Window Tinting

I have a silver 2002 Grand Prix SE (below in signature), and i'm looking to get a tint. I believe the silver is like a galaxy silver mist color or something like that.

I got a good deal from an auto center thats run by a guy im friends with, $150 for all around except front windshield at any percentage/color.

So what I'm asking you guys is, what percentage do you think is best?

I'm toying with the idea of 20%.

i'd go with either 20% or 15%. i had 15% all around and it was dark enough during the day that you could only see figures, but light enough at night to get by with. i'd say 20% would be the perfect blend, plus it's closer to what seems to be the general "limit" of 35% give or take a little in some places.

if you have a dark interior, the tint will appear darker.

this was my GT with 15% My old GT... - Picture

this is my GTP now with 35 or 50.. i haven't figured it out quite yet for certain, but i believe 35% is quite accurate. 03 Blue GTP - Picture

so i think 20% is perfect. :)

Thats what I was thinking, i felt like 35 was too light so i want to go one "degree" lower which is 20%, and yes i have a somewhat dark interior, its that charcoal grey almost blackish color

I got 35% only because its a Regal and I didnt want to look to Gangsta and you can tell its tinted for sure but its more of a subtle look. If you want somthing more black my wifes car is 20% and hers looks nice and DARK.

Like I've said before to people....20% all around with a 5% brow...another guy just went with this and loves it.

Look just a few threads down and you'll see pictures of mine that I just got tinited with 20% all the way around. I think 20% is perfect. Maaaaybe 15 but the difference is so slight it doesn't matter.

I think ima end up doing 35 on the driver and front passeger then 20 on the rear passengers and rear windshield, how does that sound?

Yeah, do same % on all windows, it looks weird with the back being dark and the front being sorta dark.

what stinks is NJ tint laws, the front windows you are not allowed to have any tint, but the back windows, well you could paint them black if you wanted to.

so im going to do 5% around the backs and brow and maybe 35 % on the front doors, should look so so on a all black car. i haven't been pulled over in over 4 years now, and have no plans to be, just for tint.

and im thinking of doing it myself, i did both of my pick up trucks back windows in the past, and a brow on one of them, and i own a heat gun. so im jumping in with both feet soon.

one truck had limo tint on the back, and i watched an eclipse through it with just dark sunglasses on, it was dark stuff.

lol niceee!!

yeah we have tint laws here, too. no darker than 35% but idgaf. and that goes the same for speed limits, theyre mere suggestions.

I heard its very difficult to tint Grand prix Back window. because of the bow and shape of it. deffinately can be done though. with some skill and patience lol

im doing a regal but the window does bend quite a bit to, ive been watching vids on you tube and i think its something i could get done for sure, i read not to get cheap tint so maybe ill stop by a tint shop and buy what i need off them, just to make sure i get good tint. not something you want to do twice for sure.

heres one of the vids,‪Window tint: shrinking back glass‬‏ - YouTube cool stuff. i have the exact same heat gun as this guy.

never heard that before. when i had the GT tinted he didnt seem to have a problem. but my GTP came tinted so i couldn't tell you.

i kinda want mine darker though but im so OCD about the gtp i won't let anyone on the inside to re-tint it :(

Well having a retired cop for a dad I gotta at least do the front windows legally, but he doesn't care about the back so much, so 35 front and 20 rest is good, or should I just do 35 all around

Don't get tint at all. Problem solved

all the newer cars have factory smoked windows, my friends ford explorer (yuck) is so dark you cant see in the back at all, and its stock, no added tint.

if you ask me tint looks so much better than clear windows, and keeps the sun off your interior thus helping the sun from fading your interior parts, and you on a hot sunny day. plus i don't like be watched from behind when im driving, you don't want to know what im up to while driving lol
