window help??

well i seem to be having a problem with my driver side window, when i hit the button the window goes down but its very weak and when i push the button to make it go up it cant even make it all the way i have to use my hands to pull/push it all the way up.
i was cruising around some sites and came across window motor stuff.
the first thing i found was a power window regulator

New Power Window Regulator<br>LH

the second part i came across was a new window motor but its only for four doors i own a 2 door gt coupe so i figured that cant be right. but as i look at the window regulator it comes with a motor but wheres the regulator?
assuming my problem is with my window motor.
thanks for your help :)

I'm assuming it's cold where you are at. I had this problem all winter, the runners or whatever you want to call the part that the glass sits in are stiff and makes it hard for the window to go up and down. When I did my speakers I put some silicone in that guide rail and made the windows go up and down a little more smoothly. There are products that help this but I can't think of the names off the top of my head.

I can't tell you if the motor is going, someone else would have to chime in. If you're replacing the regulator there is a difference between the regulators of the 2door and 4door, but I haven't found a more powerful motor than the stock delco motor.

yea i live in Michigan, and its always cold here, ill ask my dad about that silicone stuff you're talking about, I'm not really sure what it wrong i trying to trouble shoot I'm a noobie when it comes to cars.
thanks for the help and if it is the motor I'll definitely look into that delco one.

When I got my GP last summer I was getting ready to replace the drivers side motor because it went up slow. I squeezed some dielectric grease in the track closest to the B-Pillar and now the window goes up like normal.

^^Thanks that's the exact spot I'm talking about, there's also a track on the front of the window, basically you have to lube the track.

A silicone spray like this might be easy to spray into the window crack and I'm sure any auto store has it

i had a similar problem like this except my window would fly down and then go up snail speed on both driver and pass. i ripped apart the driver side even cut out the regulator and then i found out the contacts in the switch itself were corroded with green sh*t and wiped all that off and put the switch back together and then had to rivet the regulator back on. and piece it together i was pissed. so check those contacts.

My four-door driver side motor just quit a couple of days ago...The regulator went and I ordered a new motor with regulator from GM...It was a pain to get one of the 10 mm bolt holding the glass in place to the track...Thank goodness my hands were small enough that I was able to remove the bolt...replaced the assembly and everything works like a charm...Even replaced the white panel clips...What a difference the new clips make.

My windows were always slow, I did the alt mod and improved my electrical system ground and it helped a bunch, nice and steady up and down. And the silicon spray :th_thumbsup-wink:.

I didn't know there was an alternator mod, how easy/cheap is it?

Buy the whole window regulator with motor. Cost about $94 (rockauto.com) per side(Dorman). Also replace the inside weather strip or called channel strip. You can only buy through dealer or GMpartsdirect.com. This is the part at the top of your inside door panel next to the glass. Further find fastners for door panel before attempting to doit yourself. You will need about 11 per door. FYI there are video's on you tube on how to do this yourself. Good luck!
