ok well im completely clueless on this wideband 02 sensor thing... does it take over for the stock rear 02 sensor??? or do i need a new hole??? wiring?? can i just get a quick set of instructions on what to do
 


Search, there many threads on widebands. They are sperate of your stock narrow band. They require an extra bung being welded in usually. I used my stock rear 02 sensor bung for mine since I have no cat
 
Yeahhh, having parts doesn't mean you know what to do with em...

If you want to keep your rear o2, you'll have to add a bung for the wideband.
 
i thought forums were for helping and teaching people things???

just because i dont know how to setup a wideband doesnt mean i dont need one... it just means i need to learn how to use one...
 


when i did headers i deleted the cat and egr and used the rear bung for the sensor then ran the wire through a body plug in the floor and hooked it up

There is a search button at the top of the page, this isn't the first time someone has wanted to know how to install a wideband... Also if you buy new, they come with instructions since wiring is the hardest part anyway.
 
If you have a 2001 plus GP then removing the rear 02 can cause over fueling. Its hit or miss so be aware of that aswell
 
my new gtp is a 97(my name was from when i bought my last car) so what is needed to just remove the rear 02 because i will have no cat

and while im asking... what all is needed to remove the egr??? i swore i read a thread but i cant find it now
 


Wideband's are typically $200 range. Good to have if you want to see your actual air/fuel ratio. A lot go with a AEM wideband, PLX is another good brand, most come with a a/d output to wire in to the tuner, also a gauge/display in the car is a must, some just have the output wire and no gauge.

If you're installing headers and are planning on getting a wideband, most widebands come with a 02 bung. Take the car to about any welder after the headers are installed and it's pretty easy to drill a hole and weld the bung. The wideband will come with directions on the angle it should be installed on the pipe at, as it does matter.

A nice spot to install it is in the crossover pipe, near the rear head. The 02's are not going to be incredibly off going from the rear bank to the front back and if you look at wbs headers or zzp headers you will see a bung in the crossover as well. Don't need an extension harness as well if you put the stock narrowband there.

As for sorting out the different sensors, you have stock narrowband bank 1 sensor 1 that will be needed, then you would have your wideband sensor, then you may delete the bank 1 sensor 2 stock narrowband near the cat after running an emulator or having the codes set to no report in the pcm.

As for the "do a search" suggestions, do a search...

Searching "wideband" up at the top brings up a bunch of the latest posts, none with good info. Mostly because it is default sorted by date, switching that option to relevancy and then you have some good info. Needs to be addressed with Rocket to be changed and until then, let them know to change this when they do a search and they can save it in search preferences.

Hooking them up is easy as pie. Find a switched 12v for the power. Run the ground to body and the monitoring wires wherever you want them. I ran my wires through a plug on the passengers side firewall and used the existing tray for the narrowband rear O2 to run the wires. Zip ties help too.

There are special o2 sockets to help remove o2 sensors if needed at any parts store.
 
i have the uego in all my cars, its awsome. run a add a fuse in the fuse box, find a ground wire and hook up the sensor and your ready to go
 


do i need a sensor?? anyone have any suggestions on a sensor???

what do i need to do to remove egr? i know the solenoids get removed then plug the 2 egr holes??? or a plate?
 
the wideband is a sensor. For the egr you need two block off plates or two pennies and some copper rtv.
 
yea but with the headers getting put on sunday the egr being removed is something i want to know how to do...

and i screwed up i meant to say do i need a gauge?? like the future i will get one but ive already went over my $1000 limit for my fall project by about $800... spring is more modding but i dont want to go crazy right now... so is a gauge necassary right now or can i wait till spring?
