Which intake manifold is better?

I have a 98 GP GT couple. As im going to have the intake manifold and gasket changed this May, I m preparing the parts and tools now. I found from 3800 Series II Vin K Upper Intake Information : Engine : PontiacBonnevilleClub.com that there are two recommended manifold, so i m wondering which one is better?
1. APN: "About a year ago, we became aware of a new kit that appears to offer the best off-the-shelf fix for the upper intake manifold. The combination of a metal heat shield to protect the plastic upper and a reduced diameter stovepipe is the best method we can currently recommend to resolve this problem without altering the cooling system. Using either of the two reduced diameter pipes supplied with the kit, an insulating gap of .125” is created between the hot pipe and the heat shield. The kit is marketed mail-order by Automotive Parts Network; it includes a UIM gasket, a throttle body gasket, and other parts, and is priced under $100. http://www.ineedparts.com/auto-parts/in ... 17806.html "
2. Dorman: Dorman markets a replacement UIM kit that includes reduced diameter stovepipes that will directly replace the larger stock pipes. When one of the smaller pipes supplied with the kit is installed in the LIM, the insulating gap between the hot pipe and the plastic EGR bore is increased to .123”. The Dorman upper is a good replacement for the original equipment part, and includes a UIM gasket, throttle body gasket, and other parts, but the EGR passage is not protected with a heat shield. The Dorman kit is available widely and sells for about $150.

any more tips or comment other than than will be much appreciated, too.

BTW: The coolant in my GP doesn't leak at all. Only the LIM gasket leaks minor oil. but no oil drip on the ground. I douno why. Do i really need to change them recently?

And your changing the actual mani why exactly?
it's a 12 yrs car~these things had never been changed before. And the LIM gasket leaks oil. Actually, i was just planning to change them, but never thought about why to change...

^^Sometimes they tend to warp. The one on my Mom's LeSabre had 29K on it when I put the new intake manifold on it a few years ago. It was causing a vacuum leak and a little bit of coolant dripping out. IMO, it doesn't matter how many miles or whatever...if I had the money, I'd just put a L26 Upper on there and be done and never have to worry about it again.

Aluminum vs plastic hmm I wonder which holds heat better....

The gaskets ya but why the actual intake manifold? If it hasn't blown up on you why change it?
It was said the original intake manifold was a bad design and better to be changed. But mine didn't have problem yet. So i asked u guys.

will L26 fit?

lower intake gaskets dont seep oil ru serious??? they all do were the lower intake meets the block-

QFT, even where it meets the UIM.

And I would rather run a L36 intake mani then a L26. Say w.e you want but the L26 soaks heat like a *****.

And ya the L26 fits. The swap is done all the time.

So it is common that LIM gasket and/or UIM gasket leak oil? I only get LIM leak oil. What should i do? Replace it now or wait until somewhere leak coolant? Any other advices will be much appreciate.

Replace all the gaskets. Don't worry about the actual manifolds dude.

Eh I wouldn't say common but it happens.

QFT = Quoted for truth

L26 mani
