• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Where to start modding my GTP

First I totally read the sticky on where to begin modding a grand prix. And I plan on doing basically the first things suggested. I'm doing everything in the zzp stage 2 kit. That's not really where I had issues. The kit comes with a new downpipe. Now from there should I get that power log manifold or just a full header? Also I wanted to get cams for my car. Can I get cams (along with the valves and other things etc) to accompany the stage 2 kit mods or did I need other stuff? Then I wanted to get an electric water pump too. Would I need any tuning or anything like that with an electric water pump? And if I do the cams, stage two kit, electric water pump would I need to upgrade the intercooler too?

Headers > Plog any day of the week.

Avoid the stage kits stuff can't be purchased from other places or separate.

Drpends what can you go with will decide what needs to be done. A VS can can be installed without any additional tuning (although always recommend) all the other cams require a tune. You still should change out your valve springs, timing chain with whichever cam you decide to go with.

Our cars don't have a Intercooler..but depended on how far you won't to mod you can always add one..

Search bars at the top of the page..you gotta do some research

I did as much research as I could find. They have a heat exchanger right? If I buy headers that would usually include the downpipe right to eliminate that u-bend?

No heat exchanger stock. You have one of those when its intercooled. Yes it includes the downpipe and deletes the ubend. 04+ don't have ubends stock. 97-03 so do.

At what point would I need to put a heat exchanger in? Like how much power? And I wasn't necessarily getting the stage kit but at least all the things from the stage kit.

You don't ever "need" it. Its a want thing more than anything.

This. Depends on how much power your wanting to make. Keep in mind are transmissions are already pretty ****ty from the factory. Adding more power can just put not wear and tear on them. Plan on getting a built one if u go all out.

Heat exchangers has to deal with intercooling so you won't being with that right now

Some blow there tranny in stock power level so its luck if the draw and depends in how you treat car and drive it. If your constantly putting your foot down don't be surprised if it blows quick. If your driving it normal you should be already but again nobody can tell you when it's going to F up.

Um not exactly sure what you meant in those answers. I was talking a heat exchanger for the engine coolant then a trans cooler to help out the transmission. I just want to do all the preventive maintenance I can on the transmission.

Your talking about a radiator? You'll never need anything other than a stock one. Trans can last a long time i'm still on my stock one at 229K miles.

Thank you!!! As for the trans I still wanna beef it up as much as I can to prevent anything. Especially if I'm putting down more power to it.

I have a spare laying in the garage so if mine goes out I'll just swap it out but if you don't want down time on your car you can get a rebuild with a 300m input shaft hardened 4th gear and 7/8th chain. You'll be good for a good while then.

Oh radiator gotcha you like Dsmuts said you won't need need one of those unless your happens to crack or something.
