• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Wheel bearings

Both sets of bearings were torqued with a torque wrench. That is calibrated on a regular basis. Seems to be the torque value recommended by the manufacture is too high from those that I have spoke with.

Old torque specs are 145ft/lbs, and the new specs are around 118 ft/lbs. I have used both specs with failures. I have several mechanic friends and the see lots of failures on these and other bearings. I truly believe the bearing is of poor design.

when was the last time you saw a old school bearing and race failure? rarely. re grease em up every few years and they lasted forever.

Timken and my fronts have made it to two vehicles now. I just tighten everything till tight and impact the spindle nut tight. I beat and beat and flog my car every way possible

It has been so long I do not remember what moog had for a spec. I was told to try 90ft lbs.

Definitely nothing like unit bearings!

I used ACDelco. Seems fine so far.

Spec for my 05 GP GT, straight from the service manual, states to throw the used hub bolts away. I believe that is because the new bolts come with threadlock preapplied. I cleaned and reused them as mine looked good, then torqued as per the service manual: 96 ftlb for the hub bolts (with blue threadlock applied), and 118 ftlb for the CV spindle nut.
