Old torque specs are 145ft/lbs, and the new specs are around 118 ft/lbs. I have used both specs with failures. I have several mechanic friends and the see lots of failures on these and other bearings. I truly believe the bearing is of poor design. Both sets of bearings were torqued with a torque wrench. That is calibrated on a regular basis. Seems to be the torque value recommended by the manufacture is too high from those that I have spoke with.

when was the last time you saw a old school bearing and race failure? rarely. re grease em up every few years and they lasted forever.
