Wheel and Tire Opinions/Help

GTPNEWBIE

New member
I have been doing research and talking to people on the forum about wheels and tires for a little less than a week now. Since talking to people and doing all of my research and scrolling through the threads I've narrowed down my results for wheels and tires.

THE WHEEL OPTIONS---

-18x9 Black Saleen Wheels
http://www.americanmuscle.com/blsawh1.html
+30mm offset
24.9 lbs

OR

-18x9 Black AMR Wheels
http://www.americanmuscle.com/black-amr-18x9-9404.html
+30mm offset
24.7 lbs
(I like these better because no one has them, I like to be different)

I want that wide of wheels because I like the look of the wide stance. Looks like a beefy bulldog in my opinion! I know that if I lower or when i lower, I should say, that i will need to roll my fenders. That is ok. Rolling my fenders is free and fine by me. Also, when I lower, I am wanting to use SSC springs. (From my research, I've learned that those are pretty good too). That being said, I have my tire sizes narrowed down between 3 sizes. I have one size that I want to get but I'm not 100% that it will work. So feel free to telling me what will fit or what won't.

THE TIRE OPTIONS---

235/50R18
+1.90% diameter difference
+1.86% too fast
(this is my last choice of the three)

245/45R18
-.24% diameter difference
-.24% too slow
(this is my second choice)

255/45R18
+1.09% diameter difference
+1.08% too fast
(this is my first choice)

I want the 255 over the 245 because the 255 is a little bit wider than the 245 from what I have researched (feel free to correct me of I'm wrong, I'm not 100% on that). Also, the 255 is about $20 more per tire which isn't too bad in my opinion.

So if you have any suggestions about my wheel choices or tire size choices, feel free to say them! Im not one to get butthurt easily from someone contradicting me. Thanks!!

Prepare for the butthurt

I'll go w/ the AMR over Saleens. Saleens have been done 3 billion different times.

245/45/18 for the tires so the speedo is still only about 1mph off. Plus with 255/45 I'm sure you'll have some clearance issues.

The only reason that I like the AMRs over the Saleens is the same reason that REDCOMPG said, the Saleens have been done over and over again. They do look sexy though. (Just my 2 cents, not arguing:th_biggrin2:)

And with the tires, i just looked again and the 245 has a smaller sidewall which is what i am wanting so those seem like a better deal anyways!! I overlooked that before.

Do you think that lowering the car with SSC Springs would make it rub ALOT? I figure it would rub, i just want to know if it will ALOT

probably won't rub much at stock ride height, it'll just look terrible.

lower it, roll the fenders, run 0.5* more negative camber all around the car from stock specs (1.5* all around, ish). it'll look boss.

DEAL! How do I make negative camber? (I know what it is but I'm new to the car world, truck and jeep before this)
And how do i measure negative camber?

you need to get an alignment and probably install camber bolts to get anything more than stock camber specs.

I'd rather have you hunt down Bremmer BR05's 18x9 +35 that arent made, are the same style as AMR's but look better (as in, have slight concave). Saleens properly done still look good. Besides, doubt you'll ever see another GP in your area.

I like those too! And what do you mean by "done properly"? And also, i parked next to a blueish purple gp gtp at school yesterday:th_biggrin2: I felt accomplished

done properly, meaning what i said you're going to need to do to make them look good (lower, fender roll, aggressive alignment).

Oh! Got it. And I'm planning on lowering it first, then wheels and tires/allignment. Is that a good order for doing it?

And would i be able to make this a poll? Like am i able to? "AMRs VS Saleens"

you can't edit in a poll for an old thread, have to make a new one.

and you get an alignment after you lower it or you'll eat up your tires that are on the car now.
