Whats wrong with cops?

K so Im driving to my friends house in the middle of the day not speeding or doing anything illegal and as I'm parking in front of his house a cop car comes flying out of no where, cuts in front of me, almost hitting me and two cops jump out and run over to me like I'm some kind of criminal. They come up to me and say "you can't have tinted side windows". I don't know how they even noticed because my windows were rolled down when they pulled me over. They take my license and write me a 60 dollar ticket. They tell me if I get two more tickets I have to go to court. Don't cops have anything better to do then drive around in a residential area chasing down people with tinted windows?:th_angry-censored:
Btw does anyone know how to fight this kind of ticket?
 


Look up your local laws on window tinting. If your windows are tinted acording to the law you can contest the citiation.
 
The windows are illegal but they were rolled all the way down at the time so I don't understand how they can write a ticket when they don't have proof at the time?
 
If your rear glass is tinted. I'm assuming it is, then the cops probably assumed your side windows were tinted. You could try to contest it but, I doubt you'd win unless there is video.
 
Your probably right. Just bugs me how they sit in quiet residential areas giving tickets for tint when there is probably something more important they could be dealing with
 


No they really don't. Got pulled over in a ford escort because they claimed my stock tint was way too dark. The officer pulled out a machine that slides onto a car window & gauges tint. I was very sick that night & wasn't the driver. I thought to puke on him but it didn't happen.

I've been pulled over at least a dozen times for underglow on 2 different cars. It's legal(ish) here in Wichita.
 
I had 20% on my old monte, (35 is legal limit) and wrote me a ticket, found a picture of my car before the tint, told them I took it off and they dropped everything. If you try it, DO NOT drive your car to court... borrow your parents car or have someone drive you, because they will watch you.
 


The news was just talking about all these small time offenses like tint and stuff and how they tried to get stricter on this stuff since last year. Now the courts are flooded and are telling them to back off a little bit because they can't keep up.
 
My gp fronts are way to dark for ca tint laws ive been waiting for months to get popped then ill accept the ticket and get my fronts redone legal

I understand some cops can be a bit "forceful" but that doesnt make them bad come on
I have been harassed and so on plenty but it was do to me doing something wrong

Just pay the ticket and get your car legal
 


What's the reasoning behind getting a ticket for tinted windows? Is having darker windows really a crime? I mean come on... I can understand underglow because it's "distracting" and "impersonating an officer" but darker windows? What BAD can come from tinted windows? If a cop really wants to see who you are, they can just pull you over if your doing something suspicious. I honestly don't see a reason as to why tinted windows are illegal..
 
Supposedly they have the laws so that an approaching officer can see inside the car to tell if you may have something dangerous inside the vehicle they need to know about. (A shot gun aimed at them, for example...)
 
I thought it was because at night its hard to see out of the really dark windows...but this one^ sounds right also.

I understand what you are saying but my tint is only 50% so you can still see very clearly into the car
