Whats up with cars these days....

comp g has got a better blower which IIRC puts the 04+ at 20 more hp, and comp gs come stock with 3.29 gears.

whereas the 97 is rated for 20 hp less and has 2.93s, plus 97s have notoriously bad trannys, which means less power to the ground

97 GTP has the same transmission as all the 98+ GTPs. it was the 97 GT and SE that had the crappy trans.
 
I've had a 97 gtp too, the comp g feels quicker, but the 97 doesnt have the traction on it, I read the 2010 cobalt is 14.2 but from my experience I end up door to door with them
 
If your running door to door with a '10 SS/TC...and your in either a 97 GTP or 04 Comp G...the Balt needs a driver mod...even if your on a header/smaller pulley setup...SS/TC balts are mid to high 13 cars stock
 
I was wondering if i had headers and an intercooler could i advance the timeing and gain power without a pulley swap?
 


you could, but theres no point with the intercooler AND the headers on a stock pulley.

Just get headers if you wanted to go that way.
 
A lower chance of detonation, means advanced timing, and cooler, denser air, always equals power, these engines use a MAF and can account for a change in intake temperature, How close is a comp g to a GTs timing? Will headers really make it breath that well?
 
the front manifold is terrible. i tried to fit my index finger in the opening when i had one off, there's literally the width of a finger for the exhaust gases to travel through. the thing with the intercooler is, you can make the air more dense, but without a pulley drop, you're more or less putting the same amount of air into the motor.

I agree... cobalt ss's are my enemies here in texas. supercharged i dont stress, but turbo??? i always take them from a stop up till 2nd gear. but then they just smoke the f%*k out of me from there.
