Whats up with cars these days....



How many stock SS/SC's do you see running mid to low 14's? Not that many. 90% of people out there can't drive. I've also seen mid 14 second stock GTP's...it isn't that uncommon.

That's why I said overall. No point in comparing everyday drivers so when you put a pro driver in an AVERAGE GTP (14.8) and SS/SC (14.4) the balt is faster.
 
you must race the kids that have stock skittles and think they are fast lol i raced a 02 4.6 mustang a couple nights ago and beat him by a car. raced a slowbalt a week after i got my skittle and he didnt have a chance. im only running 12 psi, spike 14.

You must race kids that have stock cars, and can't drive them.

I will admit with an expirienced driver, "skittles" are no joke. I was quite surprised to even keep up with one. But then again my boy has an 04' mustang 4.6 cammed, headers, full exhaust, stage 2 clutch... and i still beat him. A car is only as good as its driver, unless your boasting 500hp. then your an idiot if you lose to much of anything!!!

A good driver in a stock, or lightly modded srt4 isn't a joke at all. You're right about that, but by no means is it something to fear. Props where props are due, but the hype some kids give these cars is nothin but some BOV dream bullsh*t. It's a good car for what it is, but if I wanted a turbo 4, the neon srt4 would not be my first choice.

Something doesn't add up with the whole you beating a cammed+bolt-on GT. Seems to me like he should walk away from you. I wasn't there, so I'm not going to call BS, it just seems unlikely to me. You're not an idiot if you lose with 500 HP, I've seen 500 HP cars get walked by 400 HP cars. Power to wieght, it's kind of a big deal. Also, have you ever driven 500 HP? It can be pretty tricky to get it off the line, it takes a good suspension set up, tires, and alot of seat time to get consistently good track times. You don't just show up to the party with 500 HP and automatically become the boss.

Besides all that, these days, 700 is the new 500. Run around talkin about your 500 like it's the end all be all, and somebodys gonna hurt your feelings.

As far as that mustang goes, he went from an under 150hp chevy cavalier to a 300+hp mustang. He;s not just a bad driver but one that is fearing for his life!!! lol
But yea i hear you about the whole power to weight. I've seen a miata beating a 2010 Z06! I've never driven RWD 500hp, but i have driven an SRT-4 pushing it close, and an STI with just over the 500 mark. Its tough, but once an experienced driver gains confidence in him/herself and the vehicle...other than mechanical failure all excuses go out the window in a race!!!

Thats funny you say that cause everytime i lose with a passenger in the seat, i always blame the loss on them!!! hahaha.

And its usually an N/A auto with the back seats taken out.
 
Speaking of Miata's, there were 2 turbo'd ones at the local track last year running 15.5-16. They ran at least 10 times too, made me lol a little.
 


How does an stock 04 comp g (15.0) beat a stock 1997 (14.9) gtp coupe?
Is it normal for the tires to chirp when it hits second when useing the tap shift?
 
those times are way off and it's a drivers race. the 04+ is a heavier car making it even power to weight wise.

comp g has got a better blower which IIRC puts the 04+ at 20 more hp, and comp gs come stock with 3.29 gears.

whereas the 97 is rated for 20 hp less and has 2.93s, plus 97s have notoriously bad trannys, which means less power to the ground
