What should I replace on a used 2004 4t56e

Chris from Wisconsin again. Thank you all for your input on my last question. I have found a used 4t65e with 84,XXX miles from an Impala with the 3.8l that was a rear hit. With the tranny out, should I replace Anything prior to putting it in? I greatly appreciate your input.

put it in the car, then drop the pan and filter, add 8 qts of new tranny fluid and a new filter. call it done.

blow your tranny lines out as well as the tranny cooler in your cars rad. you dont want any of your old fluid getting into the new/used tranny.

I would consider pricing some of the known things that can go wrong in the valve body and replace those before installing it. Triple Edge Performance can help you with those.

Front pump seal is a good idea. On the year thing you can change the electronics and use it in a 2002 and older car

Sorry about that, I have a 2004 Grand Prix (also, it is a 4t65e, not 56). Huge thank you on the tips, I completely forgot about blowing the lines out and the front pump seal.

[QUOTE=They may have different gear ratios. I'd check that out first

From what I have found, there is an FR-2 and an FR-9 gear code. Do these numbers sound correct? Where do I find the ID tag on the transmission to verify?

I know the impala will have either 3.05 or 3.29 gears. I thimk fr9 is the 3.29 ratio. Keep in mind youll need to use your original neutral safety switch

Man, All you guys are awesome (in a guy way), I hope someday I have a bit of knowledge to return the favor, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

The salvage yard confirmed it is a 3.05 tranny. Do you know where to look on my GP tranny for an ID tag?
