what oil do you run...

5w50 mobil1 when i can get my hands on it, or 5w50 castrol syntec which is always available. - oil pressure never drops and its the the best range you can get for our cars, 5w30 is junk

dunno who your buying oil from cuz they are wrong. Just for ****s and giggles i googled some proof for you. Read the first couple short descriptions on the page.... 5w30 is thinner, hence, why you run it in winter because it flows better.

5w30 thicker than 10w30 - Google Search

hmmm you must have missed the second half of my post

"look up and interpret the cSt's of both oils and you will then understand"

mobil 1 5w30 and a purolator pure one. BTW, oil volume is more important than pressure. Think about it for a second: when lubricating a drill bit for instance, do you want high pressure spray or high volume?

yes 5w50.. run i.. you will love it, it basically stays as a 5w weight/ viscosity without thining out at even the harshest driving. therefor staying at a constant 50psi oil pressure even with the car completely heatsoaked 5 w30 5w40 and 5w50 will all be the same thickness at 0*

How do you think you are going to get the volume to move around the engine? Pressure:th_thumbsup-wink:

well nobody got the zzp oil volume kit? i got it put in but i dont have a op gauge, and i ran 5w30 syn whatever brand is on sale, and i use lucas syn oil stuff to.

Hate newb up the thread but maybe some of you can educate me on this topic. If I live in Seattle and the weather is neither crazy hot or crazy cold what is the best option for me? I am religious about my oil changes and always use Castrol GTX sometimes 20w50, sometimes 10w30 and every so often I treat it with Lucas Oil.

Am I just wasting money with Lucas Oil?

Should I stick to the same weight, and does changing it effect performance?

I drive alot, average about 300-400 miles a week so I do alot of oil changes, if I should change it up let me know thanks.

I would not run 20w50 it is to heavy..the only way I would run 20w50 would be at the track on a very hot day.. or in an engine that is worn out 5w30 or 10w30 is your best bet 5w30 winter 10w30 summer lucus ok..but I would rather put my money on a good synthetic instead !!

Ok good to know, so should I just switch to Castrol Sythetic or pony up for the RP? I dont mind the added cost I just want to know if its actual making a difference?
