So my 02 gt now has the following modifications... Gt1 cam, Hv3, zzp 2.5 in downpipe, 180 t-stat, k&N filter, and I have to say a pretty sweet tune from prj,

In a perfect world that should be around 280hp to the crank, I know the worlds not perfect so lets say 260....anyway my goal if any would be 300 or just over that to the cank because 1 that would be awesome and 2 it just sounds better to say oh its a little over 300 hp when people ask

So where I need your help is what all should I do? Im pretty sure im going to ditch the downpipe and go for headers, and I wana do a intake of somekind but other than that what should I do? Maybe throtle body, and injectors?

And I think I might have to beef up my trans some how cause I doubt it will take what I have on the car now let alone 300hp so help me out with ideas if you can
 


injectors dont add power, they add the ability to flow more fuel.

throttle body might help you a little, but id just port the stock one (note that you'll have to retune). headers would help too. other than that you're running out of things to do. boost is your only option at some point. (i also dont think youre making 260 crank hp let alone 280, but that is another story.)

lol the 280 is in my perfect imagination world I would hope that im atlseat within 10 of 260 but you could be right i wana get it dynoed at some point have no idea what that would cost me tho
 
Alright after looking over it again and these are zzps numbers which i think are wrong when i think about it

Gt1 cam 20-30hp
downpipe 15hp....I doubt it ill say 10 maybe
hv3 30hp also unlikely ill give it 15
k&n drop in filter claims 5 but I say maybe 1
180 t stat helps it stay a little cooler but probally dosent free any power

so in zzps imagination 280 Im going to say more like 245 at this point still dont know what to do next

hmm Im starting to think 1 that going with the cam I did wasn't the best idea cause its a n/a cam and now if i were to top swap id need somthing else and 2 that doing anyhting to my car is a waste cause im not going to drive it that much considering gas is $4.16 a gallon now
 
Cam is never a waste of time IMO.

Nick made a good statement as well...get an intake on that car.

My buddy had these mods to his N/A 3800 and made just a tick shy of 200 FWHP and 220 TQ...

All through a motor/trans that had almost 180k on them...and probably pretty tired. So...I'd guess about 15-20 more horse if that thing was new and in good shape. That gives you an idea of where your at...and the GT2 is bigger than the GT1.

I'd get your TB Ported...and make an intake...and have Paul retune it. If your worried about fueling get GTP injectors...if your worried about cooling...get a GTP radiator. I'd also get a 180* T-Stat if you don't have one yet.

If I was in your shoes I'd do this...

Make a fenderwell...for about 50 bones or less...4" tubing to the TB...port your L36 TB...Get Speed Daddy headers...if your worried about it passing inspection...you can get a universal Magnaflow High Flow Cat that is 3" in/out and slide it in where the SD's normally just get rid of the cat. That should put you around 200 FWHP.

but get headers and sell the dp is the best idea(unless you really are going turbo). Then bolt a cone filter to your TB. everything else probably wont see noticeable gains on the butt dyno.
 


i was planing on making a fwi but atm all i have is a drop in filter and im already meeting paul in richmond today today for another tune cause I wasn't thrilled with some of the shifts and he looked back over the pcm file and said he saw some things to change im actually not sure if this is gona cost me extra at his $60 an hour for this retune or if hes doing it for free he never said just said I can meet you in richmond and adjust those things

anyways I don't want to put more than another 1000 bucks into this thing at this point
 
So...get headers...start there.

If your looking for more at this point a top swap can be had for well less than a grand but you WILL need headers.

Just kickin' thoughts around. If I was to build a GT...it would be a high compression, GT2 cam/rockers alummy head build with nitrous and a built trans on a high stall and 3.69's...
