• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

what is this, why is it like this, and what should I do?? [pic]

ok i just bought 2 front monroe quickstruts(171661) from rockauto for $220 shipped. I shall return with updates!

^^ check your rear struts. especially the spot where they mount as it tends to rust. if your fronts look like that im sure you need the rears too.

Where can you pick up the kyb's at a decent price? I'm thinking about lowering my car and heard these are the struts to go with.

i really wanna get rid of the clunk.. id love to do Kyb's and SSC's all way around.. but dollars.

while your mount looked a bit rusty, it kinda looks ok. if they dont move leave em. and then check your lca's, they were the source of a lot of my front end noise. after new lca's i no longer hear thumps or bumps when i hit bumps and pot holes, still avoid them but when you have no choice it rides better over them now.

and for all you front end clunker guys check the lca"s, they cost 100 shipped to your door on line.

or theirs a guy selling a pair and a solid sway for 100 all new. on this site.

i really cant believe hes still trying to sell them, i thought they'd last a day or 2 but still there. its a killer deal if you ask me.;)

I just got the KYB GR2 Strut Assembly's from Rock-Auto for around $125 per without shipping... a pretty reasonable price. Yeah, they're NOT racekar status, but I would say a major upgrade to replacing what was the original struts with 90k on them.

RockAuto doesn't list the parts you have to know the # and search for them... so here they are... (for 98-03 GP)

KYB SR4002 Front (Driver and Passenger the same part #)
KYB SR4003 Rear (one is Driver, one Passenger sides, forgot which, but you can match them up when pulled off car)
KYB SR4004 Rear

The GR-2 Strut assemblies are a notch above stock replacement, but not an aggressive Strut/Spring combo.

What am i looking for when checking the LCA?

so considering that a few other's posted pics of their mounts.... I may as well do the same (Pretty shot will be ordering new ones)

but i'm on a track thinking i should wait, and possibly upgrade to coilover's or something a lil' better
