ive been looking around here and asking people but no one gives a straight answer, what fuse do i pull in my 1999 Grand Prix GTP to disable the auto headlights? my DRLs are already disabled thats how i bought it. i just want to know the fuse number i should pull ive looked in the fuse box none say "auto headlights" or "DRL" or "Twilight sensor" and im not the best with electrical stuff please just someone whos done this tell me what fuse to pull

my DRLs are already disabled dude and ive determined on my car all i have to do is pull a fuse i just dont know which one it is

I heard that I can disable the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) in my Grand Prix. Why would I want to do this and how would I do it (this is not recommended)?

If you want to disable the DRLs but not the automatic headlights, unplug the voltage reducing diode in the DRL circuit. It is a large, finned object located on the outer wall on the left side under the dash. It is visible through the small access panel the you can see when the driver's door is open. If you unplug this diode, you will turn off the DRLs and not affect anything else. If you do not wish to have the automatic headlamps or DRLs active, simply pull the appropriate fuse in the fuse block located to the right of the glove box. Remember, though, that you may be eligible for a discount on your insurance premium for having and using DRLs and they are meant as a safety feature so that other drivers will see you more easily. They aren't cool, but they could save you and your shiny new GP from getting into a mishap.

I had to remove a plug from this module to disable the autos. It is under the driver side dash on the kick panel.

When I pulled the fuse for the DRL in my 1999 Grand Prix GTP, the automatic headlights were disabled with it or vice versa. One fuse (10A, I think) does it all.

Explicit_Spade how many times do i have to say it! my DRLs are ALREADY DISABLED and i want to disable the auto head lights i dont care if its for safety it looks retarded. everytime i see a car in the day time when its cloudy out with there lights on i think wow idiot its day time and head lights are for night time.
KeithGTP03 ill look for that when i get a chance thanks
SnowDrift i need to know the fuse number like 1-35 in the panel not that am-page

Guy..I'm being open and honest here. I believe Spade posted because he was trying to help out. Cut him some slack if that's not the answer you were looking for, because others may be put off if you give a guy trying to help a hard time.

It's nice that you "heard" it was possible, however if searching and posting didn't net you the fuse number. This might be due to the experienced people here, not ever "hearing" of a fuse that does it.

Again..not trying to be a jerk, but you are hard nosing people on a subject that you are asking for help on. Since you say you don't understand electrical all that well...it may be beneficial to lead with a nicer foot.

On my 02, I put a resistor in the connector going to the photo sensor (the little thing on the dash) that "sees" the light coming in to determine whether to activate the headlights. I just popped up that panel around it and inserted the resistor and popped the cover back. Done.

Lower left corner in the fuse box in the glove box. 10A - I have no idea what number, but the cover is labeled "DRL".

Very left most, very bottom most fuse.

I hope you are not one of those people that when it is cloudy and misty out do not turn on any lights so people cannot see you. Around here in Toronto on the highways it is horrible, people drive like idiots in adverse weather and do not have lights on.

I agree headlights are for night but there are times when you need TAIL LIGHTS in the day time!!!

i agree with you and when that happens i turn on my Running Lights which turns on my tail lights but im not blinding people with me headlights like a douche

I tried the resistor on my 01 gtp and it didn't work to get rid of the autos I unplugged the heatsink and it didn't work ugh it's the curse of the 2001.
