there is this grinding/squeeking noise coming from either the tensioner, or the waterpump. im gunna investigate it further tomorrow morning in the daylight, but maybe you guys have some suggestions thanks-Nick

most likely the tensioner, they go bad frequantly.... spary some wd on the center when running and if it changes the squeak you've found the culprit...

X2 on this, Usually if a water pump is going to make noise it might sound like a shallow knock or rattle. Most of the time water pumps bearings will go bad, destroying the seals or visa versa and leak coolant.

yea thats right, most waterpumps have a hole in the front where coolent drips out of...

i picked up a new NAPA tensioner assembly, do you believe these things go for $140 new!!!! lucky for me i only paid 80:th_mischievious:

well its not the tensioner!!!!!!looks like ill be buying a new water pump tomorrow. anyone wanna buy a GTnowP??? :th_shakinghead1:

morad parts company could have gotten yo a tensioner for a lot less. a new waterpump is only like 80 bucks, if you know someone at a dealership.

i didnt call ed because i didnt want a used tensioner, i got the pump for $50, just annoying i have to take everything apart again, oh well

Totally!! It's funny when folks come on here and ask questions to get tips on how to diagnose something, and they don't do what is suggested. :th_shakinghead2:

well live and learn i guess.... the brightside is he doesn't have to worry about the tensioner for awhile....:th_laugh-pointup:

ehh whatever the car just turned 67000, im sure stuff needs to be replaced. i wanted to replace both of them, oh well

Well one good thing to replacing parts and doing repairs is your mechanical knowledge increases!! We all start somewhere. Good luck in finding what your problem is, and be sure to let us know what it was. :th_thumbsup-wink:

well the tensioner was shot anyways, it was very loose and chitty, i had a feeling the water pump was no good, i shoulda replaced them both like i wanted to but i got lazy. i have to do front end work also, the tie rod ends are shot and some other stuff, sucks this stuff didnt go bad in the summer time!

Yeah, they always seem to go bad in the most inopportune times. Make sure to pay attention to the inner tie rods too!

id fix that power steering asap....my old turbo regal race car had no P/S screw that for everyday driving

ya DD this to school and everything for more then 4 months, realllllly great getting another rack&pinion (leaked all fluid out) and ps pump soon with the newerish body
