What Do You DISLIKE About Your Grand Prix?

What do you dislike about the Grand Prix in its stock form? It can be anything from design to cheap parts...anything!

Ill Start. I dislike

-How GM takes a great engine like the 3.8, then uses plastic gaskets and intake manifolds to make such a great motor less reliable.

-How the ABS sensor is in the hub. When the sensor goes bad, or gets wet, the ABS system shuts off, throws the light. Nice, when it rains, is when I'd need ABS and TCS, and a bad hub disables the system. So backwards

-When Pontiac uses nice big promising 4 inch fog lights, then uses a 27 watt bulb?!?! :th_shakinghead2:

-When a 01 GP has oxidized and hazed headlight lenses, but an 01 Monte Carlo has crystal clear lights.

the fact that you have to drop the cradle even for the most basic of jobs like a oil pan gasket

the auto dimming rearview mirrors are crap im on my third one

and the power steering rack is junk i have yet to see a gp with some miles on it with out a leaking rack

Hate to burst your bubble, but mine has 125k on it's original rack without a single leak.

I dislike the fact that's the darn thing's FWD... It'd be soooo much cooler as RWD.

The GT and GTP could have worn different gauge clusters...maybe with Volt and Oil gauges, and a boost GAUGE for the GTP (like the Impala SS) and maybe different number and letter font, and also a 150mph speedo. Let the Grand Prix SE use the gauge cluster were all stuck with...

I believe only Cadillac gets ac seats in the GM line up.

I see alot of impalas where the rack isnt leaking. Its always the pump.


One thing about all GMs is why no auto up window controls? Even cheap jap cars have them.

The spark plugs and how much of a b*tch the rear ones are to get to. That, and the metal sleeves on the plug boots, never had my hands so cut up after changing the plugs on a car.

4) Interior is pretty cheap
5) Handling is ok...
6) Body design is ok...

I hate the LIM gaaskets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got done redoing mine and took be 25 hours just by myself. Of course you can't just take it apart and do one thing, it ends up being a domino effect having to fix all the other crap that breaks when taking stuff apart.

Well...since I do drive a Slowbalt on the daily...it is like climbing into a Mercedes when I did drive the GTP. Only thing I will gripe about in the interior...poorly supported seats, crappy window switches that come OUT of the door, plasticy feel to mostly everything I touch...IE, switches, dash....you name it.

WRONG!! They are in many SUV's streching back to nearly the 97-03 style GP...especially in the Escalade, Envoy, and all the new higher end trucks or new SUV's
