• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your Car today?

Hmmm... where to start?

Had to find the exhaust leak on my newly installed Pacesetters... lol, yeah, don't rush to judgement here until done reading, lol.

SO I seafoamed the Vac. lines hoping it would reveal itself. A real small tick, but it was there. I also was getting some EGR codes which were baffling me. Anyways, no good, smoke didn't show anything. But the side benefit was the engine seemed a bit smoother at idle after the foam treatment. lol

So now what... back to the garage and time to look real close. In the mean time, I lost a little bolt holding the EGR heat plate on the LIM job, so I wanted to replace it... while doing that the culprit was spotted, a very small brown/black patch where the EGR tube attaches to the rear header. Ok, simple fix right? Just take the EGR off, see what's up, maybe a little rtv, whatever, re-install and done... BUT,... nooooo....

The damned bolt securing the EGR tube to the header plate stripped :( almost impossible to get at WITHOUT taking the headers apart! NOW... mind you, this thought was infuriating me because I installed the infamous PACESETTERS without a hitch, no leaks anywhere on the crossover, the Y, collector, etc.

So anyways... to make the long story, well... long...

I had to remove the headers :( Almost a total disassembly, go the bolt off, replaced it (had an extra thank goodness), not something I really wanted to do, but it turned out to be a good thing. I checked the main tubes of the headers prior to install, but never thought to check the EGR... there was casting or weld slag in there that caught the egr tube and when I wrenched it down, it crushed it because it couldn't go nowhere. So I had to reshape the egr flex tube end gingerly, grind out the inside of the header egr tube on the headers and put everything back together.

What a freakin PITA... but I think the 2nd install went much better, everything seemed to fit real good, lol... BTW, those Stainless Band Clamps are the *&^(^%... No need for welding anything.

Anyways, that's what I did to my car, now she sounds perfect, no little tick and I hope this does away with that EGR code. We'll see...

Regards!

They do not like being ignored for more than a day. I can't live without a battery tender. I left if in the AP parking lot for 8 days when I went to Vegas. Luckily it started on the first half a turn.

Started her for the first time in two days.

And she gave me attitude.

Its only illegal when you get caught ;)

Its 35 on the fronts, and 5 on the rest.

Thats ok I have 20% on my front roll downs

Replaced my LIM gaskets today. New coolant elbows. Drained ****y dexcool and replaced with regular coolant. Oil change. So far, so good.

what do you run for oil? Something with a high detergent level obviously. I havnt a clue what was ran in this car before I got it. All that gets run in it now is kendall.

I've used mobil 1, mobil conventional, syntec, gtx, pennzoil platinum, quaker state synthetic and conventional.

Clearly whatever is on sale :D

I end up changing the oil around 3000 km or so due to the relatively short trips of under 1.6 km I normally make with the vehicle. I'd venture to suggest the shorter intervals have a hand in the cleanliness.

matt wait tell you see the my 99s when we do that tomorrow.....

I'm scared already.

I drove it to a catholic church to park it and ride up to brighton with my Aunt so we could file taxes. Come back, and some birds have shiitted on it in 3 different places. I thought just the IRONY of my car at a church lmao!

anywho...i really don't wanna wash it. and wiping it off with water and soap doesn't look good either, so what now.

Today, finished the LIM's on my car, and did 1LoudGrandPrix's upper and lower intake. Plugs and wires on both cars, valve covers on both cars. New alternator on mine. Was a busy day!! But everything turned out good!

where you getting gtx wheels from?
I think I've mentioned it before, but there is a dark green GTX around bluffton that I've been seeing a lot lately. Guy doesn't take care of it and obviously doesbt realize what he has. It's got gas cap rust and rockers are awful, rusted up past the molding on the door. Chips and dings everywhere....but, its got the hood, badges, and wheels. He was getting gas when I was so I threw the offer out to trade my t stars for his. He looked at me like I was retarded and said no. For as bad as the car looks, the wheels surprisingly looked decent. Minus the bald tires and mine only have 15k on them. I didn't take a picture after he shot me down. Boo on stupid people
