• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your Car today?

Tried making some custom gauges today. Turned out like ****. I've got an idea to try fixing it, though.

Welp, 1 if not 2 of the injectors I put in yesterday are bad. I'm getting a cylinder 2 misfire code, and Torque shows me misses on 1 and rarely 6. I ran Techron through them today on a 100 mile road trip with no help. Oh well. Hopefully it wont snow tomorrow.

Put my new bulbs in, made the problem worse in a different way. Put old bulbs back in, also tried getting my housing caps to work but they are too big so back to duct tape.

Have you tried giving them a little tap with a small hammer? I brought a dead injector back to life on our minivan with a little jewelers hammer.

Attempt 2 was far more successful. It's darker than the original, but it's still very readable. Not as bad as the picture makes it look.

Within the next few days when it's registered again. Thirsty ***** hasn't had more than a quarter tank in a year and a half. $20 put in it since June 2013.

Drove it to Indy and back this weekend. Average 24 mpgs. Now its sitting in the driveway waiting for the snowpacolyps to happen.

Well. Putting the stupid LS back together tomorrow. 3800s have intake manifold gasket problems and the 5300s have DOD/AFM problems.

Not to be debby downer even more but those 5.3's in the trailblazers/envoys the most prone to a lifter failure. They were one of the first motors to have the DoD/AFM and they are also an all aluminum engine block (not a factor really).

Every motor won't act the same so there is always a chance you'll never have an issue. I'd just keep an eye on oil burning though, happens with the early DoD motors. Tuning it out would be best and you'll only lose maybe 1 mpg.

I had considered it but I didn't know how much it would affect my mpg also thought about a procharger to make a sleeper envoy xl lol

What are the signs of lifter failure? My Grandpa has a 08 Avalanche and it ticks really bad when first started until your let it idle for a while or drive it for like 5min.

I do know that the lifter tick happens in all likelihood based motors I've heard my envoy dose it, my Lil brothers gto dose it and y older brothers z28 as far as I know they all do it

Lifter tick and piston slap are extremely common on LS motors. Piston slap was more so heard on the earlier 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0's. My 2006 doesnt have it but just lifter noise, I'd just guess at 99-04 hear it alot more. When cold the pistons would kinda rocked back and forth untill they warmed up and expanded. GM said it didnt damage the motor or anything so they said it was normal.

Lifter tick can be from old worn out lifters or because when started cold all the oil had drained out and back into the oil pan overnight. They tick untill they are pumped back up with oil.

A lifter failure can grenade and eat the camshaft, bend a pushrod and cause some damage. From what I see on DoD/AFM motors, the DoD lifter(s) will start making noise all the time or they will fail and cause a harsh misfire. The lifter will collapse and need to be replaced.
