• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your Car today?

A friend of mine got a 8th gen Imapala, same platform as a lot of Grand Prixs and Regals from the same time. It's a southern car we got from Georgia, and has 100k miles an is 100% rust free. 3800 4pseed auto pretty well equiped as well, leather, sunroof, CD player, remote keyless entry, remote start, and trip computer.

Needed a few things, so I told him bring it over and I turned up the heat in the garage and we placed a few MISC things on it, and it's nearly perfect now. Next weekend we are doing the brakes.

Finally mounted the TV over the fireplace. So it's not in the corner anymore. I used to have an ugly white mantle around the fireplace. I had that ripped out, had the electrian guys come over wire up power and the cable for the TV, and then slapped up some stone. I think it turned out good.

I took the snowmobile out on the pond after I cleared it with the plow.

Having a studded track on the ice is a lot of fun.

So that is what I have been up to the last week or so.

Bought an lq4 to finish up my n* set up. Bought a carbon fiber shift boot. Bought the goodn 17" five spoke Bonnie rims with good tires. And hoses for my ssic build. Installed my slp headers and started my cat back so I can run my loudmouth exhaust

Do you have a members ride thread

In my 2001 turbo GP with 95,000 miles, I drained out all the old dex-cool coolant. I noticed all the brown gunk all through the radiator and inside the radiator hoses.
How can anyone say that dex-cool coolant is ok to use and should just keep using it? I have had issues with it in all the GP's I have owned and worse, I have had LIM gaskets leak. There are other choices in long life coolant. On other GP's that I switched to the green long life coolant, no issues.
Anyways, I did the complete flush ritual and poured in the long life green coolant.
I should be good for another 100,000 plus miles.
By the way, getting rid of old anti-freeze used to be a issue. I don't like to do what some said they do, just pour it out on the ground. I take all old anti-freeze (and engine oil) to a local Advance Auto store to dispose of it.

Decided to get a high performance transmission rebuild from Triple Edge. Went to a couple local places, got a labor estimate from a local shop to remove and install for about $600. The local dealership estimates around $900-$1000 in labor. Going with the cheaper, I estimate around $3,000 total. ($1900 rebuild + $600 labor + $200-400 shipping + misc [fluid, gaskets, lines, cooler flush])

Then it's to figuring out if my hubs are bad (abs, trac, etc lights on), maybe some new suspension stuff (knocking in the front over bumps), and at some point a new rear bumper, since my neighbor backed into it.

Hopefully I'll get this all straitened out before the beginning of summer! (aka AUTOMOTION!!)

Or you could just do the swap yourself and make it even cheaper :)

Maybe on a car I don't love as much as this one! I'm afraid I'd mess up. Haven't done much mechanical work, and I recently replaced the power steering pumps on the GXP and my truck and both make a ton of noise.

Bought some chevron techron fuel system cleaner for it. Figure I should do it every mid and late winter to clear up any carbon build up from all my cold starts and short trips.

This cold weather kinda wakes up the 3800 a bit. I mean, it pulled pretty hard today from 10 mph. Idk if my tires were wet but where I was the ground was dry and the tire(s) were spinning til 30.
