• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your Car today?

YeSterday changed the plugs and wires on the wife's Bonneville

Bill I have all my tools in their own pouch labeled in my tool box

Pulled the GTP out the drive way, spiced in the ACC wire for the radio so I don't have to keep popping off the faceplate, also tightened up the battery terminals, seemed to help startups a bit

Washed it, I hate road salt.

I moved to a new house, then went out with the wife, spent a few hundred $$, then pulling into walmart I got out of the car and immediately noticed air leak out the front passenger tire, it had a hole in the sidewall, luckily in the same parking lot was a shop so I pulled in and had to purchase a brand new tire... so now I have mismatched front tires

put the back tires on the front. different brands tires on the front can make the car pull to one side or the other when driving.

Welp, my car has that intermittent coolant leak again. It just comes and goes when it feels like it. And it drips quite a bit when it does. It's leaking from the exact same area that coolant elbows would leak from, but I felt under both and they were dry. I felt around the water pump and it felt dry as well. Rad hose at water pump is dry. Heater hoses are dry. What else is there?? Timing cover gasket or something?

Have you checked the water pump pulley for play? When my water pump went the leak was tricky to find. I had so many issues tracking it down and finally just pulled the belt off and felt a good amount of play in the pulley. Put a new water pump on and no more leak.

I gave it a sissy tug when working on something else, I didn't feel like taking the belt off.(at the time the leak was gone) I looked around the wp and it looked dry, I couldn't see the bottom part but it felt dry. The inside of the pulley and around the seal is dry though. I'm gonna have to look into it further if I ever get any time. My car just likes to be worked on, it misses me under the hood or something.

you can test it with the belt on, just grab the pulley with 2 hands, push with one, pull with the other, then back and fourth. use your man hands this time lol.

if its tight, its time for a cooling system pressure test.

I did a pressure test a bit after the first time it leaked, but it had already stopped and wouldn't leak for me under testing. I gotta catch it while it's happening.

When you say leaking from the same area as the elbows. You mean when the drips hit the ground? Can't go by that.. what if it's your radiator and the fluid is traveling down the frame before falling to the ground. Find the wetness....we know you can.

Dont really have time,I have to go to work today, So I get to drive the car @ 60-70 mph for 40 minutes, Ill see if it does pull.
After I park in the car pool parking lot then it sits for a week and off I go to California, from -0 celsius to +25 celsius in 2 days woot woot, Love truck driving lol.
its coming back that sucks lol, takes awhile to get used to the cold...

WELP, didn't get to drive her today. she decided she didn't want to start a second time this morning... hopefully just wet plugs and ill get a jump when I get home

Got burned by eBay last week after I got a cheap MAP sensor replacement. Yesterday I replaced the "cheap" sensor with one from the parts house. Car is running like a champ now. I knew something was wrong with the new "cheap" MAP sensor when the vacuum reading was -16. I used a smoke machine on the vacuum lines and she is nice and sealed up, not one vacuum leak.

Note to self- some parts should NOT come from eBay.

^^^Probably could've asked around here for a nice used MAP.Not doing anything with the GXP. Unless you count making a shopping list for it. That a has to wait til I get a 2nd job.
