What did you do to your car today? Vol 2.0

changed out both blend door actuators in about 30 minutes. before sealing up the foot covers, i did a reset, then worked the controls with a finger on the rotating part, must say ive never had actuators react so fast, and move so fast.
 


Were they just gummed up or broken like usual? I don't have dual zone so never had the "luxury" of changing those things out on my own car. Done a few others though that had the usual clicking sound of busted gears.

Got tired of messing with my stock tails getting water in them and finally installed a set of smoked LED tails. Was skeptical about it but after seeing them on the car I dig em. Not fast n furious looking and have good light output even with the light tint on them.

i been doing used swaps, they both just seemed to have quit. had one unplugged the other removed since last year lol be nice to have heat on demand again.
 
Just in time for the temps to drop. Good call. Plus now you can defrost the windshield when needed without a bunch of fvckery involved.
 
Just ordered the Moog problem solver front LCA bushings, I'll get those probably by middle of the week, get the new balljoints in, and have the car back together by next weekend.

Every time I take another part off, I find more that needs replaced.
 


Easy fix there. Don't take stuff apart :)

Just installed a new thermostat in to hopefully take care of my P0128 code it threw last week. Also took a look at a friends 06 Jeep Liberty for a coolant leak. Heater core it is. And no, I did not take that job on, lol. F that. I know what's involved in changing that out and just don't have the time if it's not one of my own vehicles. Just as bad as changing a Ford heater core which are also reserved for the 5th circle of hell.
 
Washed the car.
Installed shorter dog-bones.
Changed a dash cluster bulb.
Ran a wire for some LED's.

That is it; ran out of time.
 
Leave work, car won't come out of park. Great. Finally get to use the special button. Guess I'll pop the console and check the plug; seems to be the most common.

Not one wire attached; two wires broke, three wires pulled out of the terminals.
 


Figures I'm the special one. LOL

The purple and one pink wires broke, so I'm thinking that one of them broke last, and was holding all the other wires in place. Stupid design.

After closer inspection, ALL the wires broke. Stupid design the way the harness is short and does a 90* bend.

I couldn't get new terminals quick enough, so I got a new connector/harness from Delco. I made the harness 8" longer than stock, so it should last forever.

^^Great work shouldn’t ever have that happen again. I agree it’s a crappy design to have wires that tight at that angle.
 
That is a craptastic design. I've got nothing to report about personal vehicles, just monster heaps of neglect. GTP thermostat thinks its playing dice. I've heard theres only one brand that can be trusted now and don't have one yet so I watch over the gauge like its a slot machine. Prolly been as hot as 245 once that I know of. The 455 sputtered on a couple WOT1-2 shifts (you guys call it making a pull, I think) a couple weeks ago so I took the top off the EPS 750 and removed a few years' worth of rusty silt from the bowls. All is well, revs strong to redline now and no running lean in turns. No problems living life with a carb but I've always played hell trying to keep v belts from squealing a little now and then. Pontiac V8 FEADs leave much to be desired.

That's new(ish) knuckles, balljoints, Moog spherical front bushings, and plenty of fresh grease... I didn't get all new control arms because I only wanted to replace the stuff that was broken, the control arms themselves were still practically brand new. However, Murphy's Law decided I was going to completely rebuild the control arms.

And yes, I did order the "police spec" LCAs almost 2 years ago, but I had the wrong part numbers for them... RockAuto sent me one that I actually ordered, and one that was NOT the part number I ordered, but WAS the police version. I'll eventually get the correct one...

I also replaced the clock spring, or "steering wheel module coil" because I made a mess of the original one...

That explained my lack of cruise control, and the airbag light coming on the day before I parked it for almost three weeks.

But now the ABS is throwing a fit, and since I don't have an ABS scanner I'm gonna just keep driving it and hoping that it's an ABS harness issue and not something else more expensive.
 
Yesterday I tried to swap steering wheels. Got as far as removing the airbag.....I know how to do it, watched a few videos, understand the logic, but do you think I could get the damn thing out? Nope. Wasted an hour trying before I gave up.

So, I installed some sexy footwell lights instead....
