• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your car today? Vol 2.0

It takes zero effort to rotate, kinda expected but still.

I really wanted to get some of those super heavy-duty balljoints on RA, but right now I'm getting the cheaper mevotech just to get it back together.

I'm not excited about having to drill out rivets...

Precisely why I just replaced the entire control arms. You get a new ball joint already installed and the added benefit of new control arm bushings, and a lot less hassle to install.

In an effort to move my project forward before winter I installed the new dogbones and BMR STB. Since some of the other parts waiting to go in are blue I shot the BMR bar with some gloss blue plasti-dip to make it match. Rear bar will be the same even though you won't see it, but my OCD won't let me have a blue and red bar, lol.. And yes I'll be painting the underside of the hood to match at some point. Just wasn't in the budget when I had the rest of it painted. The new dogbones tightened the motor back up. I didn't realize how worn out they were until I switched them out. Old ones were just flopping around in the mount. I guess 414K miles is the limit.

I did that already, but the "Police Spec" balljoints barely lasted two years and ~5,000 miles. The rest of the LCA is still just fine, not even a speck of rust on them.

The first time I did balljoints I put in the Raybestos advanced tech, they were still good when the stock LCA's had started showing their age and cracked along one of the welds. Plus I needed the tabs for the older style sway bar, so I just decided on the cheap upgrade to the Police Impala LCA's, but I guess the balljoints weren't part of that upgrade...

I'm thinking I'll keep these LCA's until they break, just swap out the front bushing for the Moog problem solver whenever I get a chance, and maybe do poly rear bushing at the same time. There is that new "Terrain Tough" off road mevotech series on RA, might see how good they are. I remember seeing a pic of them on there a while ago, weren't they green or something?

Yea, first rainy day of the season and I turned left down the ravine very cocky-like, but when I started sliding I panicked and hit the brakes. The front end slowed down and the back end slid around the side. I turned about 270 degrees counter clockwise while going over an 8 ft fence and a 3ft retaining wall. Me and my passenger walked out without a scratch, not even back pain (it's been 5 days). No airbags deployed and no (mechanical) fluids leaking. Lucky I missed all those trees, very lucky the car didn't flip, and very very lucky I switched to full coverage insurance only 6 weeks ago. Probably totaled though :(

Yea! Like I said, OVER an 8 ft fence and a 3ft wall!
The CV popped straight out of the axle. Think I bent the frame too, but waiting to hear from insurance.

dont go using hippokids reasons lol

Lol, I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that.

eeyan- Looks like you got away ok for trying to pull a smokey and the bandit jump in a W-body. Then again who knows what the underside looks like now. It's just a car and glad to hear everyone made it ok. Cars can be easily replaced, people not so much.
