Update:
It could be that I still had air in the system after I did the PS fluid flush/change procedure found in the "How To" area not long ago.
I pulled the car into one of the bays at work this morning, put it up on jack stands, removed the reservoir cap and turned the wheel many times back and forth. Key on motor off. The fleet mechanic was checking for air bubbles for me, there were plenty.
Drove home with no issues. Pump is quiet and the steering wheel turns easily at idle.
what im saying is there is no air, all you did was pull the pump, the lines are full of fluid, the pump is self bleeding, like as you filled it, it bled.
