What did you do to your car today? Vol 2.0

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

at least I got it to someone who'd use it. Still hoping it works like it should.

Yes you did and you went out of your way to do it and it IS appreciated. I bet it'll work once I figure it out. Wish I had written down the adapter info that did pop up once.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Bob, why did you let the caliper hang by the brake line?

Good eye.

The big orange jack stand was there to hold it. Raising the car up and down to release tension on the suspension parts caused it fall.

It still stings to see the condition of everything. Those "gsx" calipers were from a 3000gt and needed custom brake hose to fit.
The powercoat is all fcked up too

live and learn. You can't have nice things and also drive them through the winter.

Coat hangers for the win.

Lookers are meant to be looked at, beaters is meant to get beat on.

Any time you have to employ fire, auto repair fun increases exponentially. Looks like a fun day, not. Who remembers GM yokes with U-joints held in by injected plastic? If so, how many caps did you ruin before researching the removal method?

Bob I gotta show you some Lambo brake rotor removal pics... you might appreciate them. After awhile I'll dig...

Absolutely man - I don't think I have and ever will see one first hand

yeah the year I purchased all my poly bushing and suspension components was the year I noticed the car starting to rust. So I returned it all and later on found a southern convertible that is my garage queen for the wife.

Also. Yes. That morning sucked. What I thought was going to be 2 cheap wheel bearings in an hour and maybe tackle other issues , turned into 6 hours of "cheap easy repair"
I literally sawzall the wheel bearing and the axle clean off. 3/4 of the way through the axle frees itself. So it's over right? Nope. The axle runs between the strut "perch" or "fork" and has to come off to remove it. Really? Yup
so yeah. The passenger side isn't getting touched. Unless it fails

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

The dsm guys, when I googled later over a beer, say they remove whole knuckle axle and all and toss it out. I guess they are known for seizing up

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I hated Eclipses as a crash fixin man. Too many fasteners just to hold a bumper cover on!

This is on a Lamborghini Countach my friend in Hollywood is fixing a bunch of stuff on... its a 5000s 12V injected, and its got a crummy black paint job.

Kinda like buffing, use the least aggressive method first... this was a days-long fight.

Calipers are rego BMW stuff, but those rotors gotta come from Italy at $1200 a pop. And they were stuck BAD. Happily, they survived removal and were machined and are now back together with repaired parking brake cables and all. WayneP is a ninja.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

So...., that was weird. Quick history: I bought my car with an 04 MAF, e.g. the 97/98 one. Drove it 1,500 or so miles before it went bad (I think), got an 05, the 99/00 style, from a member here, worked for a couple months, then that one croaked - figured that out and threw the one off of my parts car, which was the 97/98 style, ran fine, maybe could be getting better mpgs. Figured I should throw on a proper year one to be safe, so I got one off of eBay for $21. Threw that on last night. Drove it to school, no issues, was driving home and tried to accelerate after turning and as soon as it hit 30 it just sputtered and wouldn't do anything (like I had happen before), so I grabbed the other xx04, 97/98, MAF I still had in the car, got my tools out of the trunk and swapped them on the side of the highway.... runs great again. Originally I had thought maybe it was because my car was manufactured in 98, but it was manufactured 02/99. So, does my car just hate the proper year MAFs and wants the old style? Like, what on earth, lol.
