Trying out a new product.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Wasn't today but back in April I traded that pile of junk in. 3 years, and not even 60k miles with nothing but problems including ABS issues, all hubs failing, knock in the left rear never diagnosed, bad vibration, two transmission failures, airbag issues since a week after buying the car, multiple charging system issues, and a heating system that at times never put out good heat. Should have known something was up when the car was not a GM certified car & only 30k miles when I bought it but I thought it was a great deal for a newer car with lower miles than the Malibu Maxx I traded for it. Today I will be doing a mirror replacement on my Dad's 2006 Grand Prix after he nailed a orange barrel on the freeway, and also changing the oil and patching his muffler. Now his car has been great. Only issue is an occasional slipping transmission, and radio with partially burned out lights. 60k miles on his since he bought it & not even a 1/4 of the problems I had with mine. Traded mine in with just over 100k. His has about 115k

Nothing really. Been thinking of getting an e36 m3 for a project car. After the house purchase I'll have the space to work on it at my leisure. Any thoughts on the e36?

Lol. I hadn't put it on photobucket yet

Thats gonna make your engine pop out! Visually. Looks nice and clean, bet thats a big improvement and was a big job. What a busy firewall those cars have, wow. Saw one at the JY yesterday.

Dash is about to come out of the GTP for airbag replacement.... yay, woohoo... not. Its a few degrees cooler this week anyway. It will be good to have back the house floor space that 02 dash has been occupying.

Thanks. I think I did a damn goo job for it being my first time spraying. Tell me about that firewall. LOL As you can see I removed EVERYTHING. The sad part about the firewall though is 90% of it is covered by a heat barrier matting.

This is the mess I had the day I pulled the drivetrain

The subframe and all the miscellaneous brackets and mounts have been removed, sandblasted, and repainted as well.

Hope to scuff the sealer on Monday evening, then spray color and clear Tuesday morning. After that wait a few days for paint to harden then start bolting subframe back in so I can get drivetrain ready to bolt back in.

Wow! Yep gigantic improvement. Once they know the knobs on the gun and give it all some thought, most folks take right to spraying. That whole engine bay is a cluttered sob but when its all fresh, that will look brand new. At least since you keep up your GP, that frees up the time and inclination to push other projects like this. Thats where I'm trying to get to, where I don't have to think much about the DD just keep it shiny. Theres a set of ready fresh iron heads in the garage I'm dying to drop on the 455 some day before the current valve job goes away too far.

Made the trek down to Michigan for NASCAR tomorrow in the GTP. Averaged 32+mpg (according to the dic) and tranny temps didn't get over 180*

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Fixed fuel pump and bought some more cleaning supplies. Some Maguires quick detailer, MF wash sponge, soap and some glass cleaner microfibers. Also replaced my California squeegee I lost months ago. Thing isn't cheap but I love it.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Finally got STFT's working on my scanguage, only to find out the trims are all messed up.... they gyrate significantly but average +10 or +11... Well that explains the knock I was getting at the top of 2nd... so anyone in Ohio got DHP and want to add ten percent to my fuel injectors across the board?

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

your short term fuel trim will be all over when driving, but should be 0.0 when wot, and close to 0 at idle.

ltft should also be 0.0 wot or close to it. you would like to see it -5 to +5 tops driving around.

stft is indeed at 0.0 at wot, but it spends a lot of time at +10 or +11 otherwise (the first minute or two of driving notwithstanding). Almost never goes negative.
