What 20" tires to use?

I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. I really like the 20" rockstar wheels. There's a video of a cammed Gxp with them and I really like how they look. Here is my question, I live in Wisconsin so the roads are really bad. I used to run 255/35/20 on my previous car and it felt of but I really want a taller tire. Can I run a 255/45/20 with no clearance issues? Not planning to lower it or anything. There's a pic of a maroon Grand Prix with 255/45/20 so I know it can be done but I would like your input. Thanks
 


No way in hell could you run a 255/45/20, the stock 18s already run a 255/40.

Hit up a size size calc website and see what's close to stock. I bet you will need a 255/30 or 35 to fit.

Or just get smart and run a 245, 255 is overrated and cost more money.
 
I ran 20s on mine....a 245/35/20 is plenty. A 245/40/20 would be to much tire for what size rim it is on. If you are interested I do have 4 245/35/20 tires for sale. Plenty of tread left on them and you would get them cheaper than new ones. If your interested, PM me.

Trying to post a pic but it says something about my limit. Google 255/45/20 Grand Prix. It's a burgundy Grand Prix with black wheels. If I do a 245 what height would be appropriate ? 35 or 40?
 


I thought 20s can look alright but for some reason these look donky.
35 on tires. 19s might be better.

Stock tire diameter is 26.74"

255/45/20 would be 29.04" tall.

If you want 245 you want 245/35. Those would be 26.75" tall. The 245/40 would be 27.71" tall.
 
18s you run a 45 series tire.

19s you run a 40 series tire.

20s you run a 35 series tire.


you have no reason to run any larger than a 245 or 255 wide tire. there's literally no point.

1) eh, hondas have a reputation for being riceboxes AND reliability, one doesn't exclude another. I don't see how putting 20's automatically makes the car's reputation suffer.
2) not your car, not your problem.
3) you dont have to look at it.
