• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

We WON!

but Ted Cruz… spokesman for GOP right wingers who all know everything about everything and anyone who doesn't agree with them is a communist… said that this is Obamacare for the internet.
You stupid libtard.

Very good news indeed! Unless of course you listen to Glenn beck or Rush, in which case you probably believe that this means Obama is going to be taking down all your favorite websites soon...

In all seriousness though, net neutrality is very important for keeping the internet a free place, and making it so you don't have to bend over any more for Comcast or Verizon than you already do.

I can see both sides of this argument. Just not real confident that the government getting involved will make things "better"

Time will tell, I suppose.

I thought snowflake was banned

LOL! Assuming that was directed at me. I'm pretty sure that dude and I would disagree on most things. Biggest being how you present your argument. You're going to have a hard time getting people to see your point of view by calling them names.

The correct answer is just to force ISP's to publicize any websites which they throttle back. Then the free market could take its course.

to ensure a free and open internet...we're going to give the government free reign to regulate the piss out of it? Because they've obviously demonstrated time and time again they have our best interests at heart and would NEVER abuse any power given to them. evAr.

So you would rather Comcast and Time Warner to manage the internet?

I just hate that we as America have decided we are the ones in control of the whole thing and **** anybody else, that part does aggravate me. I don't think anyone has rights over what this has become and it maybe too little to late to control it anyways.

God forbid time Warner gets to run anything. I can't even get 2 straight days of working internet through them let alone somewhat consistent speeds.

I say this about a lot of things when people complain about the gov. regulating industry. You expect Comcast or Verizon to regulate itself in the best interests of the customer..?

You don't honestly believe the government is solely looking out for the best interest of the people, do you?

I'm upset this costs $47 a month with 250 GB:

When this costs $70 a month:

Also the fact that Netflix had to pay to let it's customers use it's product is amusing.

Companies fight technology if it hurts their bottom line.

The big deal is the broadband as a utility part. This allows people AKA Google to use already-in-place (AIP) infrastructures to run their Fiber service around. If you haven't heard of Google Fiber than you need to and then start pushing for it. Google it.

Not always, but they are elected, so we can vote them in and out. And they're definitely more on the consumers side than businesses are. 99% of the time if a CEO can make a buck by screwing over customers they will, and then they'll spin it so you think they were doing you a favor.

Some solid points there. I like to think that I vote with my wallet. If I don't like the service I'm getting from a business, I shop/go elsewhere. I just don't like the idea of the government thinking it needs to take care of me. I take care of me.

That's true in a lot of cases, but internet is one of those things where the competition in any given region is slim to none. If you don't like you're cable provider then your other options are DSL, Dish, or wireless internet, all of which are vastly inferior to cable. They have monopolies on given regions like the phone companies of old, that's why I', glad they're nor regulated as utilities. Normally I agree with you about government babysitting, like in the case of motorcycle helmet laws and things like that...

I think South Park sums up best why this is a good thing:
