• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What's up guys
Im Chuck
I'm new to the forum and new to gm as well.
I started with a ford focus, did the whole Honda thing.
Got An Se 5speed contour v6, then I got an svt contour I loved that thing,
then third gear started grinding. That then brought me over to GM
I traded my csvt for a Chevy blazer, while the truck was good I missed going fast
I ended up tradeing my blazer for my new pride and joy she needs some TLC but I love it

now it's a 99 Grand Prix gtp
146k
Stock

so far I'm still going through and checking it out as I go I'm replacing parts
so far ill swapped over to
full synthetic oil
brake lines replaced
got rid of the stock air box
al605's
new wires

i know I need to change the intake manifold gasket
and do the coolent elbows (aluminum)

What mods could I do??

Search my friend or you will get hammered by people. It's a few threads out there that will answer your questions.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note II

Change your coolant elbows when you do your LIM.

Here's a few threads to get you started:
http://www.grandprixforums.net/how-change-coolant-elbows-49779.html

http://www.grandprixforums.net/vide...-manifold-gasket-lifters-33-minutes-3112.html

For performance, start with this thread:
http://www.grandprixforums.net/safely-modding-your-3800-a-67580.html

First mod, should be headers. No questions asked.

http://www.grandprixforums.net/header-manifold-thread-25922.html

Few aesthetics links:

http://www.grandprixforums.net/ultimate-cheap-mod-thread-free-50-a-49055.html

Common Problems to look into:
http://www.grandprixforums.net/97-03-w-body-buyers-guide-common-problems-60802.html

Also... Remove the front of the air box And replace those 605 plugs. They are too cold. Go with AL606 Coppers, since you're completely stock. The coppers will only last 15k miles, but these cars love the copper cores.

Want just a basic setup for these cars, then do this:
Headers
3.6/3.5 Modular Pulley System
AL605 or AL104's
Custom Tune
180 tstat - it's your call whether to get one or not, some people want them, others don't.

Few performance websites:

http://www.wbodystore.com/

http://www.3800performance.com/

Now, if this doesnt get you started, I dont know what will.

Welcome.

Good job Dano! Slight overkill but really good job haha.

OP if you plan to mod and kick it around here, you should head over to the Member's Ride section and create a thread for the car so we can all share in the progress.
clean car, some TLC and she'd be saweeet.

Maybe a bit overkill.

But most new people ask a billion questions without searching.

To try and save the forum, I showed the OP all the "basic" links to help prevent any noob questions in the future.

Thanks for the info Dan that really opened up a whole new can of worms to dig through

So sheff do I go to the members rides section and. Create a whole thread about my car ? And ask my questions there? Or here on this thread? I don't wanna get keyboard raped

Yes. Create a whole thread in the members ride section.

Update as you make progress on the car.

I typically like to ask any questions that relate to my car in my Members ride thread.

Search first for the answer. Google is a great place to start. Then ask questions in your members ride thread. If no one seems to be answering and you still can't find the answer on the interweb, then create a new thread... but make sure its in the right category.

just use the chat box and ask lol even though google is a good option but 99% of the time it will bring you to a thread created on here.
