Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Vogtlands vs Eibach

I'm doing both, kinda. Between the headers, aluminum subframe\bumper and various other little things I probably negated the weight I've added from the sway bars and such. Just need to get some lighter 18 inch wheels, these bullitts are freakin heavy.

17 relays don't weight that much, maybe a pound or 2. If anything, what about the Peel N Seal? That's another 24 pounds, but it's mostly in the rear. 8 rolls of it...100 square feet, lol.

I don't understand why you guys are so obsessed on weight, it's a 3500 lbs car.... that's lighter than ALL modern GT cars and as light as most modern sports cars. I just a want a car with a decent ride, a decent handler and LOTS of grip, the higher the G's the better.

I'm not obsessed with the weight, If I were I wouldn't be running solid sway bars, I was just sayin' lol. I will say the Bullitt being so heavy made my car noticeably slower.

There comes a time when adding power doesn't net you results. The next step is to shed pounds. Think rackar! LOL

I have said for years..you can lose weight or add horsepower. I added power

Or you can do both. My GXP weighs well over 3600 lbs. You can never be too light, or have too much power :). Unless you are auto crossing, the GMPP is cheaper , larger, and lighter. IMO this is a no brainer

I've driven the 1st Gen Lacrosse and I was rather impressed by how tight it was. The front felt tight enough, pretty responsive but the rear was a little too soft.... the body roll was also a lot less than our cars. I'd be happy with a front as tight as that, would you suggest the dorman front or gmpp front bar for that? As far as weight goes there really isn't a whole lot you can do thatll be significant without sacrificing comfort/luxury

Whatever your budget will allow. Its doubtful you would notice any difference between the two bars in that car. I'm not trying to say the Dorman bar isn't a good choice for some, just not for my car. Unless you buy both and test them against each other there really is no way to determine .

FWIW.. if you are looking to budget build it..
Hit a JY and
-Snag a 2000+ Monte front and rear sway for ??? $10 each? That's the GMPP bars.
-Bring an 18mm socket and long or breaker bar with you and snag the big washer/cup looking thing that holds the subframe bushing via the bolt. That's what ZZP sells as an anti-pogo washer and they work great.
-Snag caliper brackets from either a new monte or a Park Ave..those are the larger rotor brackets. Or find an F body from 98-02 with the aluminum calipers.
-While you are at the Monte/Impala section look for the beefier drag links (Impala police car for sure, some Montes)
-If the price is right, snag an aluminum subframe off a Monte/Impala (it's not better except in weight IIRC 20lbs difference) My local yard charged $50 or $75

Save your money for the lateral bars, although I was able to get a screaming deal on all six bars and wouldn't have wanted drag bars any less than what I got for the lateral/toe.

KYB GR2 Excel with vogtland springs, and 245/45/18 buick lucerne super rims.

Bill,
Hate to hijack the thread but...Drag links... what are those? Sorry if that's stupid, but I've got a Pull a Part not far from my house, I can set up an alert for when they get whatever, so if there is an improvement I could make on the super cheap I'd like to know about it. What Monte's have them? Do you know of an options package or vin code or whatever I could use to verify it has them? Goin budget is a great idea, lol. Sorry man, I do not understand this statement here either:

I think I'm just gonna buy a junkyard GMPP... honestly in the beginning of this thread I didn't even wanna run a thicker front bar, instead just do poly bushings on the stockers. But eventually I learned that with this chassis the front really won't lose any grip even with a thicker front bar, since it leans so much... if anything it'll probably gain with less body roll thus both front tires keeping more contact with the road... I don't think the 33 mm vs 34 mm will make a difference to a point where I can actually feel it. I'll buy the GMPP now since it's ridiculously cheap and if for whatever reason I don't like the balance I'll switch to dorman or maybe even stock.

It's alright, this thread has gone from talking about springs to arguing about weight cutting and sway bar sizes lol

GTpEazy,
Have you modified other cars/suspensions before? I have pretty good experience as a DIY mechanic doing my own REPAIRS, I have no experience modifying anything for performance. None whatsoever. I've been researching mods for my GTP for a while but...the married life, hence the interest in JY suspension mods lol

lol I'm an 18 yr old college kid... and work an emt (super broke life... like really broke so broke but car parts = life so I got that going for me)... never even took an autoshop class in high school loll, this is gonna be my first time doing suspension stuff lol, I'm gonna do it with a couple of friends that actually know what they're doing and learn along the way. If you can do the very basics you can do struts/springs, but definitely it'll be easier with having people who know what to do around you, so I'm a lot less qualified than you are at this if that gives you assurance :o:o

Oh yeah man, assurance isn't a problem, I can do basic stuff and plenty more without help. I'm 36, work as a welder. No shop classes for me either, but I started holding the light and getting the tools for dad when I was about 5. I've just always done repairs, no performance stuff. We aren't totally broke but have a super busy life...like really busy so for me, car parts = more work. But I got this GTP, it's worn out, it's big enough to get the kids into, cheap to work on and responds pretty well to mods. So I keep lurking in the forums and taking notes from threads like this...I'll get to it one day soon I hope.

:D keep lurking and build up your beast, since I assume you're not going to any track days any time soon, when you lower the car use the softest springs possible ... aka the vogtlands, I just ordered mine this morning from a guy on ebay, he sold it with a set http://www.ebay.com/itm/KYB-STRUTS-...-05-/400144267501?hash=item5d2a74f8ed&vxp=mtr ... it says it won't fit GTPs or SS ... but a 97-03 GTP and GT had the same IDENTICAL suspensions so disregard that... it's a good price and Vogtlands should work perfectly with the GR2s, and they came with the GMPP handling package that had the Koni Shocks. I'm doing that, I've got an addco bar ordered too, the springs, the rear addco bar and moog's control arm bushings are going in this fall alongside the 245 A/S tires for fall/winter. Once spring rolls around and I get the proper feel of the car I'll decide what front bar to put on, and toss on the rest of the stuff like the lateral links, trailing arms, drag links etc... alongside the stickiest street legal summer tires possible. Maybe a track day or 2 in the summer too if I can afford it.
