The 25mm bar is hollow, the 639 bar is solid. IMO the 2179 bar matches the 34mm GMPP hollow front bar much better. These cars weigh enough, that Dorman bar for the front is solid and 33mm, and weighs a ton. Plus it comes with cheap rubber bushings most don't use. Moog replacement bushings for the front are poly. I have the front set up, havn't installed as not sure which direction I am going yet. It requires the older style front control arms to be replaced on my car. I picked up the GMPP front bar brand new on eBay for 55 shipped, I think that is a good value. I'm not concerned with it rusting out.
That's over 50 bucks, worth the call. You can always cancel Jeggs order. I posted that link as it was the cheapest I could find and I did a lot of suspension research. Spend that extra money elsewhere if its still available.
To each his own I guess, I still say it's worth a few more pounds to have solid bars, especially in the rear. I'd be willing to bet the 22mm solid Addco out performs the 25mm hollow Addco. I don't know on the 25mm, but the 22mm has quite a few less bends to it compared to GMPP and stock, so that'd make it stiffer for sure. Post pics of the 25mm when you get it if you don't mind.
I asked a few engineers at work (I'm not arguing about anything, I'm genuinely wondering), and they all said solid would be better without a doubt. How much better? We'd have to know the wall thickness, what the metal is made out of, etc. I dunno about a 20 pound difference, there might be a combined difference of 20 pounds with the front and rear being solid.
