Brian, I think you're missing the obvious point...
It cools the snout.
Not the blower case...WHERE THE AIR IS.
Hence the point of intercooling UNDER the blower, post rotor air, OR methanol injection, pre-rotors...to cool the intake charge again, in a different matter. Those are easily seen gains by cranking the timing, running a leaner AFR, dropping pulley sizes...only thing you are going to gain with a cooler snout is if you happen to have a freak accident where the dog bones explode and go into another dimension and you have to pull the motor back by something not hot and burn your hands...which would be the snout...useful? Sure.
