Venom Coolers (intercool your snout)

Re: Vemon Coolers (intercool your snout)

and most never put more than 5000 miles on their big power setups.

Re: Vemon Coolers (intercool your snout)

OK, heres a test.

Anyone with a supercharger go drive it, bring the motor up to temp and then put your hand on the supercharger. Hot, is'nt it?

Tell me how lower blower temps are a bad thing. These superchargers are notorious for heat soak, stock pulley or not. Venom Cooler has lowered supercharger temps by an average of 100 deg on intercooled setups. We've been looking for ways to lower the blower temps for years using phenolic spacers, heat wrap on the exhaust crossovers, meth injection and full intercooler systems. The Venom Cooler is simply another way to reduce blower temps and goes to the "root" (pun intended) of the problem. It can work alone or in conjuction with these other systems and is very clean and simple.

Admitedly, for our cars the system is still in the "prototype" stages but I'll have results as soon as my unit or stlmo_gtp's are on and running.

I don't think it's fair for naysayers with no knowledge of this system to come right out and say it flat out does'nt work without doing any homework. Bob has put the proof out there and people still come out and say no way is this benificial. It baffles me. If you think the price is out of line or you don't want the latest advancement in supercharger cooling don't buy one. But you can't say it does'nt work.

Re: Vemon Coolers (intercool your snout)

im down for gains, but WITHOUT an intercooler. i want to see this do work as a straight up standalone system.

Re: Vemon Coolers (intercool your snout)

What I dont get is this...

You claim that a 100degree drop in temperature at the snout is going to show huge gains...

The fact is the phenolic intercoolers we have had for years and years will drop ENTIRE blower temperatures well more than 100 degrees, as it is not directly connected to an engine running at 200 degrees. While the phenolics have shown some gains over aluminium, they were nowhere near worth the extra cost and hassle of phenolic over aluminum... as the gains were in the 2whp area in, which were exclusive to specific situations. It has been proven time and time again that a cooler blower will not drop blower outlet temperatures, so by saying that a cooler snout would ever drop blower outlet temps is just significantly more insane.

Also, the phenolic intercoolers kept the case part cool to the touch, but the snout was still a bit hot to the point where you couldnt rest your hand on isolated parts of it for any length of time. This is still signfiicantly cooler than the 200+ degrees a stock blower/stock car operates at.

Never said HUGE gains so don't misquote me

A phenolic intercooler will insulate the supercharger from engine heat but not "cool" the supercharger per se. And comparing this to a glory run on a dyno versus everyday realworld driving where heat soak becomes in issue is really apples to oranges. And you are saying a cooler supercharger would'nt reduce IAT's where we have datalogged proof that it does so I don't see the "insanity" in that. Insane is arguing against the factual data provided on Bobs site.

So.....now you're saying that "the snout was still a bit hot to the point where you couldn't rest your hand on it" but it's not hot? And frankly, hot engine = good combustion, hot blower = less dense air charge.

I'm not here to argue with anyone. Stlmo_gtp and I are merely presenting a new option to the GTP community that does show it works to cool the supercharger. If this is'nt your cup of tea then STFU and enjoy your hot blower. It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and bash other peoples innovations and hard work.

Nearly 19k.

Get at me.

Brian had 22K~

He said big power setup.

I can see the snout cooler works. I could no doubt fry an egg on my coupler area after multiple break boiling wot runs. I can see it being more popular for the guy who just about has every mod done looking to spend more money, not a bang for your buck mod which imo the w-body guys are after.
OP good luck!

Re: Vemon Coolers (intercool your snout)

If this works by dropping the case by atleast 50 degrees i think it would be worth it!.. i have been contemplating something like this for a while along with a TB cooler... I live in Atlanta and we see 100+ days regularly... even with my stage 3 phenolic IC setup, and 2000* heat wrapped headers, TB spacer&TB heat shield(haha) i can not touch my blower or TB for more then a few seconds after a spirited drive!

..although $450 is a little steep imo too..

Same down here, I did think of tapping into the coolant passages in the blower, run a separate system after blocking off the LIM.

Re: Vemon Coolers (intercool your snout)

^ ya see you know what we have to deal with in the southern states lol... the guys up in the north dont have to worry about heat soaked engines as much as we do.. ;)..and i too was thinking about running trying to tap into the blower some how and create some sort of jackets to cool. also i was designing a TB cooler with my roommate(Aerospace Engineer ;)).. but that got lost in other projects

I Have 25k on mine

This kit may not be for everyone and i am not trying to say that everyone needs one it is just a great option for people, it just seems as if some people wants to bash stuff that they know nothing about. Just like "alkygto" said we are just trying to extend the offer to the 3800 community if there is no interest then that is fine and me and Alky can enjoy our cooler blowers, and before the swap we will get before temps of the blower and the IAT temps and then after the swap we will read the blower temps and IAT temps.

Not saying it doesn't work but numbers always prove results. I'm interested what it could potentially offer in air temps.

Re: Vemon Coolers (intercool your snout)

well i dropped a snout off the other day so we should see some results soon
