upper 02 sensor?

Does anyone have a good idea of how to get the upper o2 sensor off easily? I believe my cat is getting plugged up and someone said to take the upper o2 sensor out but I am having a hard time getting a wrench on it... any suggestions would be much appreciated... thanks

I think the socket was about $15 when I bought mine 2 years ago... maybe a little more, but the few times used it has more than made up its cost. A wrench is a booger to get it off with considering how little angle room is behind the motor, do-able but busted knuckles will be in your future.

I used an o2 socket, then a 1/2 drive 1" socket, then a 1/2 drive swivel, then 3 extensions, to my 1/2 drive ratchet with a 5 foot long breaker bar.

Even with the o2 hot from driving the car, and SOAKED in wd40, I still managed to break a craftsman 1/2" drive extension.

PS don't use 3/8" drive, broke a swivel trying that.

That's my story, good luck. :th_winking:

Pssh wd40, pb blaster, same thing.

OP, better yet, just cut the cat out. I did that so I don't have to worry about it getting clogged. :th_jester:

pb blaster is 1000x's better than wd40 but a socket on a 3-6 in. extension works great for o2's. May have to run the motor for a while to heat it up.
