Trying to keep the GTP going

Hello. I own a 2005 Grand Prix GTP. I bought it used in 2005 (it was an Enterprise rental car). Wishing I had bought a new GTP instead. This one seemed to be abused by its former drivers (what car renter ever puts premium gas into the tank?), but I just rolled the odometer past 100k.. and I can't afford a new car payment.

My GTP seems to have some chronic problems that have led to expensive repairs. So I'm I'm hoping y'all can help me understand what I can do to clean things up and make things fun so I can finally find the joy that some of you seem to have found with your vehicles.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Welcome. Seeing that its an 05, if it hasn't been done already I'd remove the TB and clean it inside and out, clean the MAF with approved MAF cleaner, and maybe think about plugs and wires since it just hit 100K. And don't use Platinum plugs. Copper or the stock irridiums are a must on these cars. And as you seem to know, premium fuel (91+) is a must as well.

Besides that, the only other things to look out for are wheel bearings/hubs, and the trans. If you haven't had the fluid changed recently, then now would be a good time to drop the pan, change the filter and refill. I can't recommend a flush as I don't know it's history and a flush often leads to a dead trans. soon after.
