Transmission Swap

Anyone know if the trans from my parts car 97 Bonneville will be the same as my 2000 GP? Both have n/a k-code 3.8 engines. Thinking of swapping motor and trans together, since the 2000 needs a motor. Trans condition on the 2K is unknown, but both have about 120000 miles on them. Thanks.

Gotta look at the trans...there's something about extra webbing on the trans from the Bonnies that isn't on the W-body trans. Billboost37 can tell you all about that.

97 Bonneville is just like a 97 GT when we are talking NA, which means the 97 is a 4T60E and the 2000 is a 4T65E. The trans won't work for you.

Otherwise, the only thing to consider when going from Bonneville to GP is you might need to swap the side cover in order to bolt up the mount bracket. Most of the covers have the holes in them though.

Didn't realize the Bonnies ran the 4t60 in 97. That means it's probably a different gear ratio too. I know the GP was 3.29. Was the Bonnie as well?

Bonne was either a 3.05/2.86 or a 2.84/3.06 I forget which was used 60 vs 65. But the difference of 3.05 vs 3.06 and 2.84 vs 2.86 is close enough to forget in my book.
