Transmission question

My 4t65E HD went out on my 99 Gtp

Only thing I can find in good condition, non S/C trans, will these work with my motor( I know they are not as strong, not looking to beat on it, looking to get back and forth to work for right now)

and if they do is there anyway to beef up the non s/c trannys

you could swap your old HD diff onto the other tranny.

the problem is the gears are different and you'll need to have the gear change programmed into the pcm with a tuner program.

so car won't run right without a tune? I'm just trying to limp it around till i find a HD to build along with my motor

it wont shift right, if at all, or hard shifts. the pcm dont know whats going on with the wrong gears.

it easiest to get the right tranny if you dont have a local tuner. you could mail order a canned tune for it, but thats more time.

I don't know if I myself could rebuild it, never messed with an auto before, I might get lucky and find a HD hidden somewhere.

not entirely true.

Some cars have Internal Range Switches, and some have the External Range Switches. You will need to find the correct one for your car as the connectors are different. The way to tell?? Look for a large black box where the shifter cable is

Also there are different trans fitting sizes. Some of the early cars have a check ball in the fitting and the later years have the check ball inside the valve body

if your tranny has the internal, and the used one is external, you can swap it around, or the other way around.

tranny lines are easy enough get around.

Can't believe Pat said this... Geez buddy.. why not just fix the issue quick and easy?

Someone search on my username and external pnp. You'll find the write up I did for a Bonneville buddy when his internal went bad.
