transmission fluid too hot??

Hey guys so upon driving the new 04 gtp comp g yesterday (148k) I noticed my trans fluid a bit higher than the normal operating temp listed in owners manual...about 220 when I was just ending my short drive of 40 miles or so, it was hot out about 88/90 degrees so I know that doesn't help me...but is this normal trans temps for this outside Temperature or am I having issues? Just did a coolant flush with new 180tstat...but I did some reading about this issue on here and seeing some mixed feelings...some say it's not too high to be worried about taking into account where I live and the outside temps, and some are saying it is high and I should install and auxiliary trans cooler?
Then I went down the rabbit hole of fluid to use, some saying dex3 is the only way to go and others saying because it's discontinued I should use dex4? So what do you all do in this situation?

"Too hot" is a relative term. Typically we like to see trans fluid stay under 180 ish. You can spike it higher than that and be fine. Just understand the hotter you get your fluid, and the longer you keep it hot, the more often you need to replace it. High temps shorten fluid life.

If you live in a hot climate, adding a cooler will always be a good idea. However, you can just change your fluid more often and also be fine. Pick your sacrifice.

Dex3, dex6... These trannys don't care. The synthetic stuff will run a little hotter and go a little longer between changes and be okay. Personally, I like to run a cheaper conventional fluid and change it more often. That carries the contaminants out.
