Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Tranny problems need help

If you pulled the 1811 code you still likely need the pressure sensor. Also, the reason the car does the hard shifting is because the computer tries to compensate for the malfunctioning part and that is why it does that. The reason it doesn't do it right away when you start driving is because the computer doesn't take over right away. I wouldn't wait too long to get it fixed.

yeah ur probably right im just debatin if i should just go ahead and get the solenoid replaced but my car has over 175,000 miles i think i should be just better off getting another transmission.

With 175K on the trans just replacing the solenoid may not fix your problem. The code sets because a shift takes too long to complete. Internal wear, worn seals, clutches, etc all contribute to this and with that high of mileage there is likely much more causing your code than a bad pressure control solenoid. If you are installing it yourself then you are only out $50 and a days time. If you are letting a shop do it then you are out $500+ and back to where you started and even if it does help you are going to have other problems on the way in the near future

yeah thats what i was thinkin too i already started calling around trying to find good prices on rebuilt transmissions for it.

If you are looking for a stock style used transmission get it from Ed Morad or a local junkyard if you can find a good deal. If you are going to have it rebuilt and/or upgraded talk to Triple Edge as this is the best tranny that you can get for the price. They have awesome race transmissions for very fair pricing that can handle more HP than you can throw at it short of spending lots of money. Check out their website and more specifically the street/strip version of the trans. They will work with you to customize it for you and specialize in our cars' trannsmission type. Why not work with an expert on this and not just some tranny shop who does them all and is not concerned with your performance at all. This tranny will help your track times by a lot. Check it out ..........Triple Edge Performance - Home Page If you have any questions, ask the trannyman by phone or on this site and I am sure he will help you out any way he can. If you want a better performing trans and you want to do it once(the right way) pay a couple of hundred more now and you won't regret it. I haven't ever heard of one of these trannys being disappointing or not long lasting to anyone for our cars.......

yeah i was wanting a upgraded or rebuilt transmisision not just a replacement but im kinda new to the upgrading my performance on my grand prix so when i look at rebuilt transmissions and stuff i cant really tell if im getting a good deal on a transmission or not.

I fount a guy that said he would replace mines for 350 bucks just didnt do it because im kinda wantin a rebuilt transmission since i have high miles on it already. Might try triple edge later on down the road i just want my car running good for right not so i might just settle with gtp tranny along with the engine for right now and a shift kit.

yeah lol i looked at the reviews at the aamco i went to(after i already went there) and every single one of them was bad i heard brownies independent transmission was a real bad place to go to as well
