TLSheff - Silver Sled

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Nice... how much you want for it. Could prolly paypal the money this weekend

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Ohh idk. $125 shipped sound okay? Like I said theyre not pretty. They're pretty carboned up. And the downpipe has been hit a couple times from bottoming out. Nothing setting it in a vise and pounding it out wouldn't fix

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Ya that'll work out fine. PM me your paypal and I'll wire you the money. I'll put in the notes my work address you can send to, we get Fedex and UPS daily and it should make shipping a little cheaper to a business.

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

So I'm browsing Air to Water Intercooler for the V-Clamps according to the http://www.grandprixforums.net/header-manifold-thread-25922.html. But while looking they have changed the clamp sizes and I'm stumped as to which to order. Could use some help.

Per the Header Thread I need
2x - 2.25" V-Band Clamps
2x - 3" V-Band Clamps

But the only V-Band Clamps listed are as follows.
2" - V Band Clamp
2.5" - V Bolt Clamp
3" - V Band Exhaust Clamp

And Bigger. Now if you noticed they also list the adjusted sizes for them.

So do I need to get the 2" x2 or the 2.5" x2 and really clamp it down? And stick with the 2x - 3" or would the 2.5" suffice since it starts out bigger? At now $9.99 +shipping I don't want to throw away $20.00+ or have to deal with a return and replacement to get the right clamps if I can help it.

Suggestions?

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Actual clamping ability is 2.99" to 3.31". V-Band clamping ability refers to the outer diameter of the ring of the V-band clamp ring. The low number here can be 0.01" to 0.05" lower than the actual outer diameter of the V-Band clamp ring you are clamping. These match the sizes on our V-band clamp rings perfectly.

Do you know the outer diameter of your V-Band clamp rings?

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

No...

SDs should all be the same, but I'm getting them from 4THGEN^^^ and they are still on the way. I was just going to order the clamps I needed so I would have everything needed coming in around the same time. I may just have to wait til they come in and figure out exactly what I need and go from there.

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Well then
"Houston, we have a problem"

Call 4th gen and see if they know the OD of the V-Bands.
or
Maybe someone on the forum has the 4thgen headers and will chime in?

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

2X2.25" band clamps and 2X3" "U" clamps. And a 3" v band for the rear header to downpipe.

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

You could use bands if you wanted. Doesn't really matter. Ive never heard of issues with that catless pipe leaking, just the crossover

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Not bad for $125, thanks Austin. Not pictures is the Solid Mounts, various clamps, gaskets, and the new double-walled Flex Pipe that was still in the box. Gotta take and have the new flex welded in, then a little sand paper, Silver Header Paint and clear and they will be read for install.

I figure I'll do as Mad Monkey does and take a couple weeks to get them installed ROFLMAO. j/k j/k Next weekend is the plan, Got GFs birthday tonight, paintball tomorrow and Sunday I'm sure I have something to do lol. I may just do it all on sunday, not for sure.

But SOON!!!

Stay tuned lol

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Ok so halfway thru, been a long day. Without air tools its taking much longer than I thought, plus it was hot and its just drug on, but i'm halfway done with the header install. Having to make my own extension for the 02 and a couple trips to the Auto Parts stores set me back.

Update for today, I found the culprit on my exhaust leak, and I guessed it right.

So the more throttle, the more torque, the more it leaked. I sounded like a old steam locomotive at WOT lol

Its ok tho, replacement is much better haha

However stopping point for the day rear is in and set. Engine is still strapped forward but I'm worried about this hose. I can see its wrapped and would assume its fire-proof but with headers I don't want it to cause problems.
Is this problematic? Its actually touching the rear header, will I be ok or do I need to fix this?

Metal pipe coming in on the left with the 90* down is the one in question.... advice?

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Welp, since nobody had anything to say about it, I just finished the header install. Still against the pipe once its on the ground but hopefully nothing bad will come of it.

Changed the oil while it was in the air, was a little over due but not too dark.

Car runs like a champ, better than expected outcome actually. Considering I still have the old mounts in, next weekend they will be changed, motor mount is bad and needs to be replaced but the knock from movement is gone. I think it was the busted flex pipe making the sound.

No beating on the tunnel and 02 still doesn't hit it when I go to reverse. Good thing.

No cat and no CEL so far. I think the DHP tune I have has it set to no read but not 100% Either way its all working so far so good.

Friends going to the track this friday I may run a couple times and see how this engine is pulling, not sure yet tho.

Re: TLSheff - Silver Clunker Needs Help

Meh, I think it'll be ok, the wrapping on the pipe is really thick and in good shape, I just know how hot headers get and don't want problems to start and it be too late by the time I realize it. I'll just keep an eye on everything this week and see how she goes.
