Tire Size??

gotta buy tires again for the 05 grand prix there are 18 inch wheels whats the best tire size to buy??
Currently theres 245/45/18.
its not lowered or anything just normal ride height.

245/45/18 and 245/40/18 are the same width of tread, but the sidewall is smaller. the second number is an aspect ratio of the first number, so the sidewall height is a percentage of the tread width.

just run with 245/45/18 and be done with it. 235/50/18 isnt the best size.

Why would they be wider?

Tire sizes are figured out this way

245/45/18

245 is the width in millimeters

45 is the section width to determine the sidewall height so 45% of 245 mm is the height of the sidewall

18 is the rim size

So if you want to figure out the diameter you do this

245/25.4 = 9.65"

(9.65 x .45) X 2 = 8.685

8.685 + 18 = 26.685" tall

235/50 are fine, but will look like off road tires..

just stick with 245/45s
