So i tore the belt in one of my tires driving through NYC and have 3 soft ball size bubbles on inner sidewall.... rims and tires are currently 20's. I have been wanting to go back stockish size for a month or so i figure heres a good time to do it. im puttin t stars back on tomorrow and gonna order some new tires to go on them. i want a hot weather tire with awesome dry traction. i do not care about wet traction the least little bit. something not too hard but not too soft. where should i begin. money isnt really an issue for tires.
 


ive been seeing Goodyear Eagle RS-A on alot of vehicles these days. for example 300c srt8, audi A6, and a few other higher end cars that i cant think of at the moment. im in the middle of debating on them or BF Goodrich Traction T/A.
 
NYC roads s*$k! Was getting on the Cross Bronx and right on the ramp were 2 cars with blown tires and rims from a f(#&$ crater. NYC roads also convinced me to put new struts on the 05 GP to handle the crap roads down there. Good thing I only visit.

Can't recommend the GY RSAs as they came on my G8 GT and they are pretty numb. No steering feel whatsoever. The Michelin Hydro Edges I've been running on my 05 and 98 Grand Prixs have better road feel than the RSAs but they are not high performance.

Check out the tire reviews on TireRack.com as they do a decent job of compiling input from a lot of folks.
 
thanks for replies guys.... to the guy in new york. the tire was the only a minor issue that POS city caused me.... ball joints... tie rod ends and strut mounts are all ****ed. i wish for a tsunami to take that cesspool of a city off the map.
 
I am also in need of new tires but money is a consideration for me. I want to mod well above stock performance later and would like to get tires that I won't have to replace later and won't break the bank now. Still running 16" stock rims at this time.

Hancook tires, I have them, but cant remember what they are called and its raining out so I will look later. I like mine, they grip good and are good for snow up here.

If you happen to get the model off of the tires that would be great. I'll usually trust the opinion of someone who has driven through the same crap.

First thing is if you want excellent dry weather traction as well as good wet weather traction, as others have noted, tire rack can provide some good choices. Stay away from S and T rated tires as these are run of the mill passenger tires. I would look for V/Z rated tires since these are your high performance and ultra high performance tires and have very strong tire carcasses which might prevent the blow out isssues you have experienced since the tire is VERY strong versus S/T tires which have marshmellow side walls. On my GP since new, I have used BFG XGT Z4's (no longer made, great ultra high performance all season tire, 40,000 miles), Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Z rated (excellent all around high performance tire but expensive, 40,000 miles) and currently, summer only ultra high performance, BFG g-force Sports, Z rated (paid $93/tire, tirerack) and so far this tire is tremendous!
