Tint..What Percent?

in MD you just get an inspection ticket... my father gets them all the time

we have a certified person in the family and my fathers car always "passes"

I tried to get ahold of the guy who did my tint he is on vacation right now.
I think the front two are 30 or 35% and the back windows are 20%
Not sure.

this car is sick!! mines just like it, just different wheels and no tint yet:(...i love the limited edition gps! whats all done to yours dstout?

got a few quick questions.
1. Thoughts on the white window virsors.
2. Should I get a sunroof visor and get it painted or leave it.
3.Should I get my lower front fascia painted metallic black and the rear bumper around where it says pontiac, and get the PONTIAC painted a reflective type of white the same color of my car?
4. Easiest way to clean up my exhaust tips?
5. I have very small rust spots all over the surface of my car. (look like little dots from a writing pen.) whats the easiest way of getting rid of those?

it wouldnt be hard at all. i have blue eyes, its hard for me to see during the day without sunglasses. i could easily make my tint 100% legal with that condition.

So, do you think you could just go into your family doctor's office and tell them you're getting slight headaches from the sun? Then mention something about "it's pretty bad when I'm driving, because I don't like to wear sunglasses when I drive."

You think you could get away with that? Haha I should probably pixelate my liscense plate number in my pictures :th_laugh-lol2:

you would need both if your going to claim that wearing polarized glasses to protect your eyes bothers you.. you would then need a medical reason why not an optical reason... PLUS really is it worth it? IMO the cops are still gonna stop you, then you will need to show proof of the medical documentation, but odds are the cop wont take it, you'd still get a ticket and then have to prove it to the station/court whatever..
Get the legal tint, you will just save yourself time, and money? (if you have to pay for medical, im canadian i dont)...

But i tell ya what, if it works CONGRATS.. thats the best way to get around a sysstem ive ever seen

Alright. Do you think I should go to the optometrist or the normal family doc?

You are wasting your time in PA. If you actually read the paperwork on it, the window film is still limited to UV protection only so technically the 50% law still applies. I have 20% on the GP, 20% on the truck, and have not been bothered by the police. I know for some reason every likes 15% and less, but I think 20% is the sweet spot. 35% is a little light, but less than 20% and you really start having a hard time at night. You have to look pretty close to see through 20% during the day anyway.

I've got 10% on my back three and 15% on the front two. Haven't done the windshield but I do consider it all the time.. haha

Of what I've heard, there isn't much as far "legal" tint. And I would be going to the doctor telling him I'd get slight headaches from bright lights... and tell him it's the worst while driving; not mentioning anything about tints or anything. If he would mention it first, good... but if not I would kinda tease the idea of people "having darker windows", and ask him if that would help, etc.

With the whole cop deal, if I had a legal prescription, I don't think there's much he could do... and I don't think it would cost a whole lot, just the fee to get in the doc's office I think.

Now to cover my ass, this is all speaking in the "If I did it, here's how" kinda terms, not saying I'd ever actually do it. :th_laugh-lol2:

hey, im all for "what if" plans.. hence why my friends and I have had hours upon hours of conversations drunk about the "zombie apocalypse" lol

IMO its just a PITA to have to worry about it.. plus the night driving point is key

Ah, the zombie apocalypse discussions. Good times...

Yeah, I agree. But don't you think it would be better to drive during the day? I mean, the zombies would be hard to see at night and if you hit enough of em, your car's toast... :th_biggrin2:

lol true enough.. when i get tint im prob gonna go with like 20 all around.. basically im gonna let the tint guys gimme whats best

Again, the PA exemption still does not allow for darker than legal, which is 50%. If you were to waste your time going through the effort, they typically require an M.D. to provide the letter stating your needs. So, an eye doctor does you no good.

I live in pa, my uncle has been tinting windows since he was my age so he taught me yesterday on my car. Came out good. I have 35 on the front windows and quarter windows and 20 on the back. 35 is kinda light but overall looks great, I'm not dissapointed at all. 20 is amazing but I live in a town where NOTHING ever happens so I wanted to play it safe I'll post pics later

Oh... oh well... scratch that whole sceme then I guess...

Well, where I normally drive (to work) there isn't ever many cops. But a guy I work with got pulled over and was told to take his tint off his monte. Think I could get away with 20-30% or so all around? Also, if it's just sitting in a parking lot, would they still be able to leave me a ticket?

heres a pic of a 90 z24 with miror tint on the windsheild i thing it looks cool but cops would bend you over
