This. I have been working on and around cars for 20 years now and I have NEVER used a torque wrench on lug nuts. I have also never had a problem with breaking a stud on a lug nut I have tightened. My mom had some tires put on at a local shop and they hammered the hell out of the lug nuts and I had a hell of a time getting them broke loose. When I had my buddy put tires on my car he used a breaker bar to tighten the lugs.
Impacts are supposed to be used to take bolts/nuts off, not put them on.
there's some bolts you can go german on (gudentite), but even the ones you shouldn't using a torque wrench a lot of the time is a waste of resources and time.
besides head studs/bolts on a motor i do the rest of the crap by feel...
