• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Ok, not much of an update today as I only did a few things on it. Best part was coming back to this:

Rust is now gone. I painted the trans just for Scotty while my dad finished fabbing up the bracket to hold the P/S axle shaft secure. I also installed new axle seals. Tomorrow, I really need to get my grommet situation taken care of and start sealing all areas that were repaired as well as get the engine and trans mated to the subframe and back in the car. Not sure what time the viewing is tomorrow, but that will definitely put a damper on my day.

See... now why were you so worried about that section? Having chatted with you about how "easy" you and Dad felt the rear strut towers should be, i saw no reason this little thing should be an issue either.

Sorry about your friend.

My rear strut towers aren't that bad. Just some flaky rust started around the top. That is the easy I was referring to. The rust in the front though...we had no idea how far it had spread. The D/S was definitely the worst of the two and the P/S only required a couple little squares put in.

Engine and trans meet subframe and then car today...we can only hope.

Today's fantastic update! The engine and trans are in the car! I know, it's a small leap, but it's a big accomplishment as far as I'm concerned.

There are a few other things I did as well...I got all the grommets sealed up and modified the oil filter adapter. I also started modifying the dust shield that goes between the engine and trans. I did find out the D/S axle for a 4T60 has 35 splines while the 4T65 D/S axle has 34 splines. Not very obvious in plain sight, but when you try to put things together and they don't fit, then you start looking for reasons why. So, now I need to get another axle, but that's no big deal. Tomorrow, I'll continue getting the engine bay situated and hopefully get started on the interior and rewiring.

Today's update...I got the wideband bung in the headers, installed the headers, installed the FMHE, drilled the strut towers for the brace, and realized I need to drill the head for the Bonnie bracket. I also need to get 3/4" to 5/8" reducers for my intercooler setup. Booo!

Sorry, no pics today. Hopefully tomorrow will give me enough progress to post something substantial.

Wow really coming along! I'm glad you painted that trans! It would be terrible to have a nice car like you have only to see that eyesore under the hood. Looks so fresh and so clean now!

It wouldn't look terrible. I never painted any of my transmissions. They all looked fine..although they were clean.

Yeah..on drilling. FWIW I used playdoh stuffed in the valve cover area to keep the pieces of metal together. Then I also drilled using a shop vac the whole time. After the fact...I thoughts....."Maybe I should have done this before the heads went to the machine shop, were cleaned and fully disassembled off the engine?...dur"

Ok sorry if that sounded bad. The painted trans looks alot better than the dirty trans pics. Keep up the good work brotha!
