• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

The Hobo G35, now with retrofits

Re: G35 finally painted

And all this means nothing haha, RWD VQ35DE's (03-04 G35's) do not have the oil burning issue, but I would consider the PCV blowby catchcan, I did it on my VQ30.

The FWD VQ35DE's had the issue with the pre-cats and oil burning.

Rev-Up RWD VQ35DE (higher rev limit) started the oil burning era. (2005-2006 G35's).

You have an 03-04 I assume from the front bumper.

Headers are a ***** to do on both FWD and RWD variant (I know...I've done both), but net huge gains. I never did the Long tube headers on a RWD, but the only ones that ever really worked were the ones from the now defunct SG Motorsports. I heard someone is replicating these for a much cheaper price. The OBX and other cheap ebay versions don't do anything for you because they are not equal length and your just making noise for nothing.

Bigger Bore intakes are the only way to make real power in these with an intake.

Phenolic spacers work wonders on these engines

There are definitely better intake plenum's out there for the DE's

You have great plug-n-play tuning options for Nistune and the like.

You can really go big dog and spend serious money easily but basic bolt-ons are enough to keep most of the masses happy.

I've seen VQ35s hit 350whp, 375whp and 400whp...NA.

But I would do a Rear mount turbo long before ever doing any of that extensive work. I had a friend with a G35 hit 400whp on a $1000 RMT setup he built up himself and put together, quiet the awesomeness there.

Re: G35 finally painted

300whp takes a bit more work than simple bolt-ons...if you don't do longtubes, but 275-280whp is possible with bolt-ons. Things have been coming along though and its been a while, I am seeing some guys doing it with a bit more advanced bolt-ons.

Maxima Guys are doing 340whp now NA

HR engines were the key that unlocked the door to big NA numbers, there was a huge change in head design that got it there.

Re: G35 finally painted

Just cam it.

Rev it to the moon with full exhaust and ITB's.

A million RWP.

Cams for these cars are in the 4 figures, then there is the install. I never really cared much for cams on the VQ's with more than a 272 duration, they really lose the low end, but boy do they sound heavenly when they rev up to that 9k rpm

Re: G35 finally painted

why not listen to the guy and notice that he doesn't want to build the powertrain? make it look and sound good and drive it. ****.

Re: G35 finally painted

no point boost it if anything.... it takes megas bucks to make na hp.......

I mentioned that you pantaloons. I said just do bolt-ons, hit the 280whp-300whp and be happy. These Vq's with 300whp are extremely quick, I do believe 12s car territory.

Re: G35 finally painted

CAI, plenum spacer, full exhaust, tune.

That ain't bad at all.

I'd honestly run cheapo headers just because...

DE's benefit from headers regardless of what they are so....true. But don't go Longtubes unless you get equal lengthers. They tend to net around 35whp. Shorty headers are around 20-25whp.

Big bore intake because regular intake is just noise. Big bore the ***** and tune, see some gains of about 10whp.

Advance your timing from 17* to around 19*...maybe 20* just put the 91-93 in at all times. Each degree is dyno proven 5whp.

UpRev, Technosquare or Nistune will probably do this anyways.

Make sure your knock sensors are good or it will be all retarded on you.

Plenum spacer and phenolic spacers = winning success too.
