• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

The Hobo G35, now with retrofits

Re: G35 finally painted

i wouldn't do a wheel like that. i'd actually do these instead:

Re: The silver surfer

Update!

Got my car back a few days ago and decided to snap some pics last night at the gas station.

The car is a now diamond graphite as opposed to the brilliant silver it was at first. I really like the color. This is actually the color I wanted at first so I'm pleased.

Still going back and forth on wheels. I saw this pic and was close to pulling the trigger on these

Either way I'm going to order coilovers first then go from there

Damn that turned out damn good. now man up and put some gtr wheels on it.......

Re: G35 finally painted

Haven't been on this site much lately but I love the G! Looks really good after the respray. That exhaust setup is gonna sound great too. Something about the way those G35 coupes sound.. I have always loved them.

do 19s so you can pay ridiculous prices for tires.

Fixed.

Re: G35 finally painted

look at tire prices. now that lots of vehicles come with 19s stock the tire prices aren't all that crazy. they end up right between 18s and 20s based on the sizes you're looking into. move along.

i know i'm always the one saying 18s or 20s, but the 19s are going to be the best looking size for this car.

Re: G35 finally painted

Just did a quick check and your right. Now to find the right wheel, should I get the wheels first then coils or coils then wheels. Friend of mine has a set of 370z wheels he's offering to me for super cheap. Debating on those or just saving they money and putting it with the wheel money

I'm your resident VQ humper.

How's the oil consumption? If you are getting some, gut the precats...right away.

Otherwise, welcome to the brotherhood of VQAwesome, there are simple bolt-ons you can do and turn this thing easily to make 280-300whp without much coin.

Change your diff fluids too and the awd will keep working.

Awesome on the paint, I wish I had something like that around here, would love to have the doglegs repaired on my car and repainted.

Re: The silver surfer

Sometime next month when the weather breaks I'm going to take the headlights apart and paint the housings black and maybe through a projector in it. Don't know what color shroud though. Thoughts? I would so black but it's so many colors lol

copper/orange.

Thanks drunk, no oil consumption so far, maybe I should take a glance today.

I've been reading up on bolt ons and it should be a fun daily driver. I don't need extremely fast just quick and fun is good for me. Raced a max a few nights ago and he's modded and he lost, by alot. Lol. Oh and perfect choice on the shrouds so that's the color im going with.

Oh and I'm rwd. Sometimes I wish I was awd until I read about people trying to hunt down the very elusive axles and the lack of going low options lol

Re: G35 finally painted

There was a recall for the oil consumption, you'd have to look into it and if it would be honored.

This guy did a simple solution with PCV.

The root cause of it all is the Pre-cats (at least for the FWD variant VQ35DE) they would break down prematurely around 60-80k miles and then end up depositing back in the engine, killing the rings ability to prevent blow-by. Not every engine had this issue, no one could ever track down exactly what engines were affected and why. Nissan probably has a good idea.

By 2006 when they upped the Revs, they pretty much told everyone its normal and to expect it LOL. HR's I know consume around a quart or two between oil changes if you rev it out alot.
