I know it's abit late to be posting in this particular thread, but does anyone know if there is a cut-off date or mileage for service recalls? I just bought my 1999 Grand Prix GTP ,the prior owner tells me he has done none of the service recalls..

Thanks for any responses!

from what i understand, once a service recall is made, it is valid, until the problem has been fixed..

On my old 91 nissan 240sx, i got brand new automatic seatbelts in 2008 because of a recall.

Im not sure how pontiac does it, if you have to recieve the recall notice before they will preform the work, or if they simply run the vin to see whats been done or not.

I would also like to know as my gaskets are leaking as well.........was the recall for the front valve cover only or for both?

I am pretty sure they will only do the front. I think you can get gm to pay you to do it your self or at least they should give u some gaskets. Try to hit them up for both gaskets and do it your self and save them the labor. I am pretty sure they would do it.

for gtp owners........it is recall 7035 and it is for the front one only. There should be no restraints on this due to age or mileage and yes they can look it up via the VIN #.
