The EGR code that doesn't want to go away

I've had the code for about 4 months now, and every time it seems to go away, it comes right back.

Things i've tried:
-Replaced EGR valve
-Fixed all exhaust leaks
-Fixed all vacuum leaks
-Changed all leaky gaskets
-Tried another pcm
-Got new valve flex hoses (one had a crack in it, thought this would finally do it) The voltage numbers on the scanner are good too.

But then after driving for about 20 minutes, it came back on but then shut off 20 minutes later. I must be getting close right? Does anyone know what i'm missing?

I know what's missing. And I likely know that everything that's been done so far couldn't have fixed the issue.

You say.. Bill, how's that possible w/o me even listing the code? You're right. Please list the code and the name behind it. Cause I might be wrong with it being P1406 EGR Insufficient Flow.

Edit.. code should be p0401

It was P0401 if i remember correctly. And the flow through all of it is fine as i know of? The car also runs and idles beautifully so you guys should tell me whats wrong so i can go fix this :D

My wifes bonneville kept throwing an egr code i can't think of which one right now but i pulled the old egr off my parts car and it worked fine. She had a brand new egr on there before i threw the old one on to fix it.

The council says MAP sensor. LOL

The MAP is my 3rd choice...there are other checks I'd do as well. Such as make sure your EGR port is clear of carbon bulld-up in the manifold and watch the front O2 sensor switching in case it got lazy and isn't reading the O2 change when the EGR opens. After that, MAP!

My CEL is on for an EGR. I will just have the code shut off when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
when I get it tuned
If ever.

Crap..I had my code mixed up. P0401 Insufficent flow. Which I mentioned the flow part.

Ok, go to Gearchatter.com and search P0401, now read the diagnostic aids. What it'll say to you is the EGR flow is measured by the MAP sensor. If the map sensor isn't reporting seeing the change, you get a code that has EGR in the title. Once you research it, you'll see that it's almost never an EGR that needs to be swapped. It's likely the map sensor or wiring to it.

delete egr problem fixed

no but same problem i had replaced egr replaced map and replaced both egr pipes (they both were cracked) and it finnally went away, please tell me you looked inside where the pipes go for solid carbon

I'll definitely have to look around the MAF then. I know there is no carbon buildup in and around the EGR due to checking everything multiple times. I'm guessing it might be the MAF since that is the only thing i haven't laid a finger on yet. Thanks guys i'll keep you updated.

buy some maf cleaner, but i dought its that cus car wouldnt run right, we said the MAP

also i got my map from the jyard for like 15 bucks the egr for 25 and the hoses i got from dealer one for 40 other for 55

even that getting the **** from jyard not all new your better off just ordering a pretuned pcm for 120 and getting some blockoff plates for 5
